Dark. Why is it so dark? You look around as your little, weak legs shook. You could feel the crackling leaves under your not so-new school shoes. Where were you? The fear inside of you rose. Where's your mommy? Where's your daddy? You want to go home desperately. You feel tears well up as you whimper as you wipe your tears with your school uniforms long sleeves. Someone help me, you tell yourself.
Y/N: Hello....? *Sniff* someone... *sniff* please.... Help me...
You felt yourself sitting above the leaves as you kept on with the pour of tears. You were just playing in the forest until you'd lost track of time. You lost all your friends for they ran faster than you, resulting in you loosing sight of them as the night had krept in on you. You had no idea what to do. You tried to call someone else. But who else? A strange so faint memory came to you. A graffiti you came across while walking to the store with your mother. A strange phone number. A delivery god called Yato. Always at your service it said. For some reason... You began to yell out.
Y/N- Yato! Yato god! P-Please! Help me...!
Your small hands shook as you cup them together making yourself more audiable. You kept calling the gods name. You felt someone else footsteps. You slightly shriek as you look back. You couldn't see much but a tall figure.
Y/N- Y-Yato g-god...?
Yato: Its a pleasure to meet you! Delivery god Yato bringing my divine service!
Y/N: Y-Yato!
Yato: How can I help ya little cutie? Huh... Real stormy out tonight... Whats a little one like you doing here?
Y/N: I-Im l-lost. I-I cant find my mommy.
You suddenly remembered. Gods need offerings first. You looked around your pocket for atleast a five-yen coin. You couldn't find one. Yoy frowned as tears poured down your face with a slight sob.
Yato: H-Hey! Whats wrong?
Y/N: I-Im s-sorry Mr. Y-Yato god... I-I dont have have any m-money t-to give you... I-I cant make a wish w-without y-your pay f-first...
You're little self doesnt know this. But the god that stood before you was warmed by your worry. No one had wanted to pay him first. They all would just plead then pay. Your gesture never left him. He came to your level as he wiped your tears.
Yato: H-Hey! Its okay little one! You can pay me afterwards! Take my hand, Lets find your mommy.
Y/N: O-Okay...
You took the mans hand. So warm... They smell nice too... He began walking you out of the forest. You felt much better with someone with you. The more steps you took the more you could see the light. You reached the park. You could see everything again. The trees, the stars, and the man before you. He looked back at you with a smile. His glowing sky blue eyes fascinated you. You had never seen such beauty in such small space.
Yato: So where do you live? I'll take ya there.
Y/N: E-Excuse me... M-Mr. Yato god... B-But your eyes are very lovely...
Yato: Awh! Your cute! Lets get going. Your mother must be worried.
Not far from you, You could see your mothers sillouhet calling for you. You slightly pulled on Yato's hand.
Y/N: Yato! Thats my mommy!
Yato: Ah! What a relief! Go with her kid!
Y/N: Mr. Yato god, how much do I owe you?
Yato: Hmm... Usually five yen, But its okay miss. You may go.
Y/N: Mr.Yato god. I will come back here with my coin. Please meet me here! I'll pay you back! Promise!
Your presistence made him smile with a slight blush over his face.
Yato: Heh! If ya say so cutie!
Y/N: See you tomorrow Mr. Yato god! And thank you!
You slowly let go of his hand looking at him once more. You then ran off to your mother. You kept reminding yourself. Yato and his five-yen coin. Dont forget!
~~~~~
The next day, after school, you ran to the park. You were eager to see Mr. Yato god again. You had a big smile on your face and the five yen coin offering on your small hands. You hoped he'd be there again. You looked around as you saw a man in a black tracksuit and a baby blue scarf. You ran towards the figure.Y/N: Mr. Yato god!
Yato: Heh! Hey cutie! You're actually here.
Y/N: Your eyes are very pretty... Oh! Here!
You held out the five yen coin piece as he gave you a small smile. He had never met a child quite like you. Not to mention a little girl. Little girls would run away from him, calling him a geezer.
Yato: Heh. You dont have to ya know.
Y/N: I insist Mr. Yato god! You helped me!
Yato: Heh. If ya say so. Thanks cutie.
Y/N: Your welcome! And thank you! You're my favorite god!
The Yato god had broke. He gave you a slight hug. It wasnt every day he was told that. Not to mention they wouldn't believe he was a god. This was special to both. You then parted ways. But you never forgot him. Yato god. You ever forgot his beautiful eyes, his smile... You werent a naive or forgetful.
~~~~The years went by and you sure didnt forget him. In school, if you had the chance, you'd talk about how he helped you in the dark. You told them about how kind he had been to you when no one else was there. However kids thought you were lying or were making Yato up. But you stayed presistent. This didnt help you further through. You were starting to become an outcast. Kids bullied you because you were different. Yet you were always so cheerful. You visited the park, sometimes hoping the Yato god would be there.
~~~~It was the end of year 9 in your middle school. You were more mature, yet just as joyful. You didn't have friends or popularity, yet you were content. You were constantly bullied and picked on. Yet you always got back up to your feet. Kids hated this about you. Your ability to be so determined and hopeful. They envy you. There was one final project. The assignment was to make a self-crafted mini shrine dedicated to a god. The kids knew what you would do. They knew just how to break you.
