"I need you to go to the Dawnstar Sanctuary, find my husband, and kill the clown. Come back to me when it's done. He doesn't deserve to live." Astrid said coldly, then dismissed me to go to Dawnstar.
When I got to the sanctuary, I saw her husband outside on the ground. I hopped off of Shadowmere and helped him up. "Where is Cicero?" I asked him, and he winced. "The little bastard is inside. He's good with a butter knife for a jester. I managed to get him, and I think I hit an artery. Follow the trail of blood, you'll find him. And when you do, kill him." He said and walked off.
I walked into the Dawnstar Sanctuary and followed the blood trail whilst fighting ghosts and trolls. I made it to the room where the blood trail ended and saw the wounded jester lying on his side on the ground. As much as I hated him for trying to kill Astrid, I couldn't help feel bad for a madman. And, as crazy as it had seemed, over the time I was with the Brotherhood, I had fallen for the madman.
"You caught me! I surrender! Ha ha ha ha!" The jester laughed between coughs. "There is only one cure for you. Me." I said quietly, and he laughed more. "Haha, yes! Very good! Very creative!" he said, and coughed a bit more. "But killing me would be a mistake! Oh yes...You would displease our mother, hmm? For she is your mother too, isn't she...Listener?" he continued. "I'm not here to kill you. I'll lie to Astrid, and tell her I killed you, Cicero. The Keeper shouldn't be killed." I said quietly, then turned and walked out. As I walked out, I could hear the Jester yell "Thank you, Listener! Cicero is eternally grateful!" he called out.
"Is the Jester dead, Y/n?" Astrid snapped at me. "Yes, he is, sister. Traitors of the family do not make it out alive." I told her. "Good. Now, we need to do the next mission. The contract is still on." she told me, then gave me the rest of the details.
"The real Emperor is dead, as you asked, sir," I said to the man who made a contract with. "Very good. I received word not moments ago before you arrived. I knew I could count on you and your....family..." he said, and soon fell silent. "Well, where is my pay? We don't do contracts for free, rat." I growled, and he jumped. "Oh, right. Your pay is in the place we met, in a nearby urn. I'm sure it's more than enough for the job done." he said, and relaxed. "Good. Oh, and by the way, the emperor had a last request." I told him and drew my dagger. "No! We have a deal! You can't do this!" he yelled, and I stepped closer to him. "No, we had a deal. May your soul find peace in the Oblivion." I said and slashed my dagger across his pale and thin throat.
"Why am I not surprised that Cicero is still alive?" I heard Nazir complain as I walked into the new, and surprisingly furnished sanctuary. As soon as he ended his comment, I heard the ever so crazy Keeper mutter something about flowers. He ran past me to the outside, and after a minute came back inside.
When I was in my room, the master bedroom, I heard Cicero yell for me. I walked out into the hallway and was met by a frenzied Cicero sprinting down the hall with various flowers in hand. "Cicero, w-" I started to say, but I was cut off when Cicero slammed into me and kissed me.
I slowly melted into it, and just went with it. The 400+-year-old vampire of the Brotherhood, Babette, walked by and groaned when she saw us. "Oh come on! There are more than 5 rooms in this place! Get in one already!" she yelled at us, but I just pulled back from Cicero and flipped Babette the bird. She, of course, growled at me, and it set both Cicero and me laughing.
"You know, Keeper, I think you're the best Keeper, you know that?" I said between laughs, and I saw Cicero grin wildly. "Well, the Keeper thinks the Listener is the best listener!" he said then bounced around a bit.
"The Listener loves the Keeper, doesn't she?" I heard the Night Mother say. I grinned, and spoke aloud, knowing Cicero would hear me. "Yeah," I told the Night Mother aloud "The Listener does love the Keeper."
