while usually,
it'd be the girl,
who is obsessed,
with clothes,
and the guy,
with shoes,
ash and ava,
were the opposite.

ava took her time,
to choose,
a pair of shoes,
and ash,
repeatedly,
asked for opinions,
to buy,
a single shirt.

i gave ash,
a half-hearted,
answer,
every time,
he asked,
because,
he was,
deliberate,
in dragging,
the time.

while,
ava,
i found out,
had no choice.

and i,
watched,
how her eyebrows,
furrowed,
as she tried,
to pick,
pretty shoes.

and i,
watched,
how her small feet,
slip in,
easily,
to every pair,
of shoes,
she chose.

and i,
watched,
how she wiggled,
her toes,
to get,
comfortable,
in them.

and i,
watched,
how her lips,
drooped,
into a frown,
every time,
she was,
disappointed,
at whatever,
flaw,
she discovered.

i watched,
all of these,
little things,
and thought,
how gorgeous,
can avery king be?

and i,
watched,
how her eyes,
lit up,
when she found,
the right ones,
though,
those,
were not,
directed,
to me.

the grin,
she sent me,
after though,
made up,
for the hurt,
that pierced,
through me.
