Mrs. Eneanya stared at the screen, focused on it and tried to process and link what she had just watched and what she had been told by Derek. It was hard to believe, to take in, to know that her daughter had been suffered in her last moments right under her nose and she had no idea. She remembered her always lively and eating a lot even of the moi-moi that Sunday afternoon.
She bowed her bead and shut her eyes. Stayed glued to the sofa, between consciousness as her eyes opened and shut at the same time. She said nothing, her mouth opening and closing with no words popping out.
It was a lot to take in for her husband too but it was a huge relief finally knowing the truth.
Mrs. Eneanya tried to fight back the tears that threatened to escape. The tightness in her throat became too painful and she relinquished as she cried out and sulked into her husband's arms who pulled her close. He sobbed too.
They didn't say a word with their mouth but their eyes said it all. They understood. This was the closure she had been craving for a long time. She had hated Adanna for a long time for a death that wasn't on her head. She was grateful to God for redeeming her. If she had found this tape before that, she wasn't sure she was going to pull through, to forgive herself but God is a good God, she remarked.
"its going to be okay. Adanna will come home and things will fall in pleasant places for us. Be rest assured my love" Mr. Eneanya poised.
She nodded and hugged him so tight it was difficult to breathe. This time, she believed him.
"Its in the past now," She murmured. This was the final leg of the healing. Now it was total.
This is a really short chapter so I will post another. Enjoy.
