Over the next two months (Y/n) and Zelda traversed all across the land of Hyrule. Mostly everyone was pleasant on the duo's journey, but there had been a few incidences where someone recognized Zelda and started harassing the princess. Anyone who did so was verbally handled by (Y/n), although she wanted to do much worse than assault them with her words. (Y/n) considered them lucky she took into account who her actions would reflect on. Zelda didn't need a guard like (Y/n) ruining what little progress the princess has made.

The king, before this entire journey unfolded, decided who the Champions would be, narrowing the scarce selection down to the individual with the most strength, respect, and tenacity of their respective tribe. Leaving Zelda to fulfill the duty of relaying the news to each individual upon meeting them.

(Y/n) hadn't traveled with Zelda to initiate first contact with the potential Champions, she was too preoccupied deciphering clues as to what each candidate needed to accomplish in order to pilot their Divine Beast. (Y/n) soon revealed extremely difficult trials corresponding to each of the tribes unique cultures, entrusting Zelda to deliver this crucial information as well, realizing it would be the best option as she was already acquainted with these chosen individuals.

That was a mere weeks ago before Vah Hylana was discovered.

Other than this, the reason for their excursion as of right now was simple. Each scattered civilization (Gorons, Rito, Gerudo, and Zora) were politely asked to be on the lookout for anything resembling a gigantic, mechanical beast. The people of the Sheikah tribe were already spread far and thin, much to the annoyance of King Rhoam, so gathering (Y/n)'s fellow tribes men and women to search instead was immediately denied.

On top of this, the harrowing trials each Champion had to complete in order to control a Divine Beast were executed flawlessly by each candidate, with the exclusion of (Y/n). The signs for her trials hadn't made an appearance, even after days of exploring her options. So Zelda was sent to congratulate the Champions on their great achievements while (Y/n) was sent to examine the Divine Beasts whenever they were discovered, overseeing the awakening process. Essentially killing two birds with one stone as (Y/n) and Zelda wouldn't needlessly have to travel separately.

The message sent directly to the leaders detailing the purpose of the Divine Beasts were not in vain as of yet, seeing how Zelda and (Y/n) stood before Divine Beast Vah Rudania, which resembled a gigantic lizard, scoping out the multiple functions. Much like Vah Hylana, the Sheikah Slate was required to properly utilize Vah Rudania.

One species in particular, the Gorons, lived in Goron City in the Eldin Canyon region of Hyrule. Filled with mountainous slopes and valleys, covered by magma and drowning in immense heat, the city was lucky to get many willing visitors. The sweltering atmosphere was so deadly beyond a certain point that one had to consume an elixir to prevent themselves from bursting into flames. The phrase "flaming hot" wasn't so unrealistic near Death Mountain.

Only the Gorons could handle the intense heat since they had the build of a giant boulder-their dark skin tougher than metal. Disappointed at the weakness of the human body, (Y/n) looked at the soft flesh covering her knuckles marred by countless scars, slightly envious of the Goron's tough outer layer. What she wouldn't give for better protection.

But overall, to say (Y/n) wasn't impressed was an understatement. Sure, the Goron's home was ideal for strategic reasons, being that the heat drove everyone away who wasn't a native, but they didn't act any smarter than a box of rocks. She held high regard for all species whether they be the oddest looking creature or not, holding back her judgement before coming to a sound conclusion.

Though that rang true for the young Sheikah girl, no one was excluded from (Y/n)'s distaste – a few individuals an exception. She disliked most things equally, and something about the Gorons not having any females around was suspicious. Maybe they popped out of the ground like daisies?
