Majestic.

That's the first word (Y/n) thought when her and Zelda arrived at Rito Village. The bird species were unlike any other with an abundance of colors that weaved together so brilliantly, it was like a sin to even think of separating them. Many flew above and beyond the fluffy, voluminous clouds, playfully competing in races with each other as they laughed joyously.

Today's weather drove the feathered species to go high above ground level, soaking in the sun's warm rays. Zelda was completely absorbed with their abilities, never before witnessing what the Rito were fully capable of in their own environment.

So, (Y/n) took the opportunity to disappear from Zelda's side, feeding her own insatiable curiosity. The princess was preoccupied at the moment anyway, congratulating the Rito warrior, Revali, on his new position as pilot of Vah Medoh. The bird Divine Beast was everything (Y/n) thought it to be: Fast, able to fly, and menacing. It was a dream come true to a researcher like (Y/n).

(Y/n) quietly observed the vast sky, twisting her head to follow the Rito's movements with calculative eyes, writing fluidly in her journal of notes. The Rito's armor was flattering, snuggly fitting their bodies, but not constricting enough to be a hindrance. Plus, the clothing was lined with a special material to keep the chill of higher altitudes at bay. As (Y/n) continued writing, the empty feeling in her mind was soon replaced by a soothing purity only a child could posses. Onyx eyes seeking the innocent presence behind her, (Y/n) quickly dismissed the small Rito child spying on her.

"What are you doing out here by yourself?" (Y/n) heard him question. Honestly, did (Y/n) have some invisible magnet that attracted children? The ones living in Castle Town bothered her constantly as well.

"I could ask you the same thing, kid."

An odd, high pitched squeak left the kid's beak, startling (Y/n) so much her head snapped back looking for danger. Nothing was out of the ordinary, but when she caught the Rito's indignant, tawny stare, she realized the ruffling of his baby blue feathers indicated his distress.

"My name is not kid, it's Cass," sassed the Rito child.

"I don't care." (Y/n) retorted, outlining her drawing of a certain Rito spinning and diving through the air who seemed the most skilled.

"Well, you should," continued the annoying child. "Speaking to someone without properly addressing them by their name is rude. And I already know who you are, (Y/n). You're also a Champion candidate, and part of Princess Zelda's very own personal guard-"

Aggravated beyond belief, (Y/n) shoved her journal in the kid's face, instantly shutting him up. "This is what I was doing," she explained.

Engrossed with (Y/n)'s notes and various drawings compelled Cass to skip over to her once she snatched back her work. Taking a seat beside her, Cass amused himself with tracing the multiple diagrams of Rito with his eyes. Their forms differed, some had their wings spread in mid flight or curled around them to gain speed.

"Hey, that's Ruma you're drawing!" Cass pointed out. "He's one of the best fighters in Rito Village, even rivaling Revali in some aspects. Plus, he's my big brother!"

Humming with interest, (Y/n) paused, tapping her pencil against her thigh. "Is that so?"

"Of course, no one can compare to those two in the sky, they're both really good!" Confirmed Cass, wriggling excitedly on his spot. "I personally believe Ruma is a ton better, though."
