I pulled up the car on the side of the rode. A dark, star-covered blanket lay across the night sky. I sat silently, my hands clasped tightly around the steering wheel. Niamh sat comfortably on the cream, leather passenger seat of my Dad's new Land Rover. How had he let me borrow this?! My Dad has always spoiled me, I was his only child, but this took it to a whole new level.
I've never been a reckless driver, in fact, I've been almost too careful on the road since getting a speeding ticket last year, only a few months after passing my test. My Mum and her boyfriend were furious, but my Dad had been much more laidback about the whole thing. My Dad had always been like that. I don't know why, but I somehow feel like my Dad understands me more. He's always been quite a child at heart. Even now, he's never had many responsibilities. Due to my Mum's terrible childhood, she was forced to grow up quickly. I think that's probably why she always flipped out when I made stupid mistakes, I can't blame her. My Dad has always just brushed it off as 'part of growing up'. Don't get me wrong, my Dad is anything but a pushover!
I felt the tension inside me rising. In the building next to us, there were four of the most amazing humans on Earth, waiting to play their songs to me and my best friend. Well, and a few hundred other people. After a few minutes, I turned and looked at Niamh. She was craning her neck out of the window, trying to get a better look at the gigantic string of people, snaking around the building.
"I guess we'd better go find Katie.." I declared, a wide grin suddenly appearing on my face. Niamh turned in her seat to face me, she beamed back at me. "Just one more check of everything before we go."
"Okay.. one second.. hold on.." she muttered whilst rummaging through my Drop Dead rucksack which lay by her feet. "Here it is!" She held up a crumpled piece of paper in her hand. Our checklist. We had made this weeks ago. Next to every item on the list, were several ticks from previous checks. Niamh digged around in my bag one last time, in search of a pen, before handing it to me. She straightened out the corners of the paper and lay it on the dashboard.
"Be careful!" I reminded her, "It's.."
"Your Dad's new car. Yes, I understand! Calm down, okay? Nothing is going to happen to it. Calm! down! Nothing will ruin tonight for us, okay? Nothing!" She snapped at me. My expression turned to one of a small child who had just been scolded by his mother. Niamh giggled at my reaction. She placed the pen on the dashboard next to our checklist and took hold of my hands. "Look, " she muttered, causing my eyes to look up from the floor and meet hers. "We've waited SO long for this day! I know the whole preparing and waiting side of tonight has been stressful, especially for you with all the added pressure of.. the whole thing with your.." I coughed and broke gaze with her. She yanked hard on one of my arms, resulting in me looking up at my best friend once more. "But it's here now, okay? This is the night! Now we're gonna go in there, and we're gonna party our fucking brains out, okay?!"
"Okay.." I muttered under my breathe.
"Oh, sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear you over that mouse sqeaking?" She joked.
"Okay." I said, a little louder.
"LOUDER! C'MON! FUCKING SCREAM! WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?"
"WE'RE GONNA GO IN THERE AND PARTY OUR FUCKING ARSES OFF! WE'RE GONNA DRINK UNTIL VODKA LEAKS OUT OF OUR EARS AND WE'RE GONNA GO FUCKING INSANE! FUCK THE POLICE!" I roared at the top of my lungs. A few, clearly already drunk, fangirls screamed words of agreement back at me through the window, before staggering accross the road to the back of the queue. At least, that's what I think they said.
"That's the spirit!" Niamh bellowed back at me. "Let's fucking rock this bitch!"
---
"DAISY! NIAMH!" A familiar voice yelled from the front of the queue.
"Holy shit, Katie! How long have you been waiting here?!" I exclaimed. The crazy fangirl threw her arms around me.
"Well, I got here about 8 this morning, and what time is it now? 6? Well that's.."
"10 HOURS?!" Me and Niamh shrieked in unison, causing a few people in the queue to turn and stare at us.
"Anything for our babies!" She replied, giving us a cheeky wink.
---
An hour passed. We sat cross-legged on the floor. There were about ten of us, all gossiping about our four favourite boys. I sat leaning my back against the thick glass door. I closed my eyes for a few seconds, still listening to the rest of the girls arguing who was the hottest of the All Time Low crew. I had heard them have this endless arguement over and over again in the past.
Suddenly, everyone went silent. I heard a few murmurs and shrieks, but decided not to open my eyes. I couldn't be missing anything THAT good.
"Uh.. excuse me? I kind of need to get inside.." a familiar voice said to me.
"Oh, shit, sorry!" I replied, quickly rising to my feet. I looked up at the tall male standing before me. His strong physique was barely disguised by a thick North Face jacket. His curly, brunette hair was dripping with sweat and his face was a scarlet red. His breathing was deep and fast, as if he had been running for miles. A silver ring was pierced through his nose.
"Oh my fucking god.. you're.." my eyes filled with tears. Was he actually stood infront of me? Was I dreaming?
"Hi." He gave me an awkward smile. The male lightly took hold of my arms and shuffled me to the left. "Thanks darling!" He gave me a sly wink before opening the door and entering the building. My eyes followed him from the otherside of the glass door. He jogged along the small hallway and around the corner.
I stood silently. I couldn't move. He paralised me.
"Holy shit." said the voice of my best friend from behind me.
"He.. He.. Darling.. And.." The tears in my eyes broke free and started crashing down my face. Niamh and Katie stood up from the floor and gave me a tight hug, in an attempt to stop the rapid tears. I only sobbed harder. "W-was that r-real?" Was all I could manage to say.
"That was DEFINITELY real!" said one of the girls sitting on the ground.
THE. FUCKING. ZACK. MERRICK just called me darling. And winked at me. I couldn't handle it.
I started to feel light headed. Niamh grabbed a hold of me tightly before I could fall onto the hard concrete. "You lucky son of a bitch!" she said to me, a huge grin drawn across her face.
"Tonight is gonna be fucking mental.."
