"Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything that you do..."

Alex turned and faced me. I almost had tears in my eyes. His voice was perfect. I'd always adored his voice, but it was so much more amazing acapella.

"That was so gorgeous." I whispered.

"Thank you." he replied with a grin. "Right! Now we've got most of the sad, sappy stuff out of the way, time for some fun!" he shouted, leaping off the bed and dragging me off after him.

"What do you mean?" I asked, slightly dizzy from getting up too fast.

"Well, we have the house to ourselves, we can do whatever!"

"What do you have in mind?" I asked, sceptically.

"Umm.. I don't know.." Alex replied, over dramatically scratching his head in thought.

Then I heard quiet music. I dug around the pile of cushions on my bed until I found my phone. Niamh was calling.

"Hello there!" I greeted her after accepting the call.

"Hey! I haven't heard much from you this weekend, what's up? Holiday is freaking boring.."

Shit! How had I not mentioned Alex to her yet?! I was quiet for a moment, deep in thought. Then I covered the mic and whispered something to Alex.

"Umm.. Okay?" he whispered back before taking the phone out of my hand and pressing it to his ear.

"Nah, I've just had plans with someone else.." he said to Niamh. I grabbed the phone back from Alex to hear her response.

"...Daisy don't fuck with me, I know that voice!"

I quickly hung up the phone and reached for my iPod on my bedside table. I unlocked it and began calling Niamh on FaceTime. Instantly she answered.

She was sat upright on the sofa, her cheeks were flushed and her face looked emotionless.

"Who was that, Daisy? Or do you just have an amazing talent for putting on voices that you haven't told me about?" I giggled at her reaction.

"Well, I don't know what youre talking about.. I'm just hanging out with a friend.." I said, slowly turning to bring Alex into frame.

"HOLY SHIT! DAISY, IS THAT WHO I THINK IT IS?!" Niamh screamed through her iPod.

"I don't know what you're talking about! I'm just hanging with my good friend Alex.." I replied. I never in my life thought I'd say that sentence about Alex Gaskarth!

I heard Alex giggle at Niamh's reaction.

"Oh my god! Why do I have to be on holiday?! Alex, oh my god! I love you! Not as much as Daisy though," she winked, "I'm more of a Barakat girl."

We all laughed together before a shouting in the background came from the other side of the screen.

"Ugh, for fucks sake!" Niamh said under her breath, "I have to go. I'll speak to you later!" she waved goodbye and ended the call.

"That's Niamh, she was with me the night of the concert.." I informed Alex with a smile.

"Awesome, she seems nice." he said and smiled back.

"She is, she's my best friend! Now, what are we doing today?"

"Well that's certainly cheered you up." Alex remarked.

I smiled politely back at him as I skipped out of the bedroom, Alex following closely behind.

I opened the door through to the dining room/family room/kitchen, a lot of our rooms are joined, and perched on the arm of the sofa.

"I honestly have no idea what we could do.." I said, staring up at the ceiling as if a list of activities would be written there.

"Umm.. I have an idea.. I kinda wanna show you something.. But I don't know if you'd be interested.." Alex muttered shyly.

"As long as I'm with you I don't care what we do." I said with a smile. Oh shit, that sounded a lot less romantic in my head..

"I'll be right back." he said, spinning on his heel and leaping up the stairs, two steps at a time. A few minutes later, he reappeared, his MacBook under his arm with a long wire trailing from it. I gave him an odd look. "I'm a rockstar," he said smugly, sitting down next to me, "I have to have my laptop with me everywhere!" he joked, with a cheeky wink. It sent shivers through me.

"So what're you showing me?" I pondered.

"It's a new track we're releasing in about a week. It's supposed to be top secret, but I've been freaking out and I need someone else's opinion." he said all at once, opening a file on the screen. "Okay.. Here it is.."

He played the file, the music blared out of the tiny MacBook.

Three minutes later, I wiped the tears from my face, trying not to be too obvious. It was amazing. I just.. There were no words.. I.. Oh my god.

"Is it okay?" Alex asked tentatively.

"W-What's it called?" I asked, ignoring his previous question.

"Umm.. Well.. It's called..

The Reckless and The Brave."
