*Based on The Bakery by Arctic Monkeys, lyrics above so you can see how it fits in. This story is special to me because I'm a die-hard fan of the Arctic Monkeys, just fyi. And also soz for the late update*

T H E  B A K E R Y

She first saw you at a local bakery, her chocolate hair was tied up in a messy ponytail. No one's able to resist her, especially you. The entire bakery brightened during her presence, yet you failed to see.

The next week, she sits on the sofa across from where you sit, with some of your mutual friends. She laughs at your jokes, her chuckle so distinguishable. Occasionally, she glances at you and you get a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe she likes you back. You just wish it was skinny love. But you refuse to admit that you have feelings for her. Perhaps it's because both of you know that it's quite probable that nothing will happen between you two, that there will be no chemical reaction. Nevertheless, you never know if you never try.

And you didn't try.

Every time you go anywhere, whether it be the post office, the rounders pitch or canteen, you always hope that you'd see her. Even though you'll never interact with her. For you, it was enough to just be in her vicinity. Or maybe she was always there, but you always missed her. You continue to count the possibilities and scenarios that could have happened.

When you go to the arcade with all of your mates, you get distracted. Sadly, your theory is true this time. She was there, sipping on a lemonade, in a paper cup, doing that habit that you adore for its cuteness. You only really find it cute when she does it, though.

What you never knew, what you wish you knew, was that she had feelings towards you. She always notices you, always hangs out around your mates for a reason.

That reason is you.

She always tries to be loud, she laughs at your jokes, even though they are the worst she'd ever heard. All to earn your attention.

What you never knew, was that she asks your friends to see where you are, so she can be there too. All because she wants to see you. All because she likes you. You share mutual friends and feelings.

That's also what you never knew.

It's sad, because it could have been something enticing, something charming, something magical. But neither of you decided to act upon this, and instead, you sit there thinking of what could have been.
