A notification pops up on my phone.
Andrew Carter just posted: This Month's Hot Or Not List
I won't be surprised if I'm on the hot section again, I'm not going to lie, most of the Juniors admire me.
I look at the post.
It is now time for me to release this month's Hot Or Not List, where we discuss the top 5 guys and girls who are hot, and those who are not.
Hot (guys):
1. Jesse Murray (3rd time in a row, chick magnet!)
2. Alex Kingsley
3. Jason Schmidt
4. Hugo Sanchez
5. Daniel BensonHot (girls):
1. Anya Sanders
2. Bella Frederick
3. Vanessa Santiago
4. Summer Danforth
5. Lily-Ann RileyNot (guys):
1. Nathan Cunningham
2. Jordan Riess
3. Ben Anthony
4. Ethan Alvaro
5. Blake ScottNot (girls):
1. Robyn Dahlia
2. Leslie Parker
3. Margaret Harris
4. Laurie Mandell
5. Rose RomeroSee? Number one, again. I shrug it off and walk to my next class.
Why is Leslie on there? Yeah, she's quiet, a little pudgy and hangs with all the nerds, but what's wrong with that?
And her laugh... it's so angelic. I heard it once when I passed the library.
"Eyy, Jesse!" Andrew called. I greet him back. "You see the list?"
"Yeah!" I replied.
"Congrats, man. Basically all of the people voted you, again!" He exclaims, rather loudly.
"Yeah, thanks bro."
"Alright, well I'll see you at lunch." I said bye and I carried on walking.
I walk past the library. Instead of Leslie's cute laughs, I hear sniffles.
Curious, I look behind a bookshelf, in a secluded corner.
Only to see Leslie Parker, with her fawn hair and red sweater in sight, her head in her arms.
"Leslie?" I ask softly.
"Go away." she sobs quietly.
"Are you alright?"
"What does it look like?" She fires.
"Okay, sorry. What's up?"
"The sky, idiot." She can be sarcastic and funny even when she's sad? What a talent.
"Come on, what's this all about? You can open up to me." It hurts to see anyone this sad, especially Leslie.
"Like you'd understand, or even care," She scoffed. Little teardrops fly down her cheeks. "Will you go away now?" She asks. Harsh much?
"I won't leave until you make me understand. And I do care." I mumble the last sentence.
Sighing, I sit down next to her, and my heartbeat becomes... faster.
"Is this about the list?" I ask.
No reply.
"Look, if this is about the list, you shouldn't worry. It's some stupid shit Andrew made up, okay?" I softly speak.
"Yeah, some stupid shit Andrew made up based on the entire Junior year's opinion." She argues. So this is about the list. "Why would you care about the girl who has been considered 'not hot' three times in a row now? You're at the top of the list every time."
Can't exactly argue with that.
"Just don't look at the list then." I simply suggest.
"People have mouths, Jesse. People talk. I don't have to look at the list to know that I have been qualified for one of the most ugly girls in Junior year."
I sigh. "Then what can I do to make you feel better?"
"Just go away."
"Leslie, I'm trying to help."
"You can help by leaving me alone."
"Leslie, you know what? This shit doesn't matter, because I think you are one of the most pretty, smartest girls in school. You have a cute laugh, good grades and beautiful hair. And that's all a girl really needs. So, please, don't listen to that stupid list."
Leslie finally looked at me to see if I was actually sincere.
She wrapped me in a long hug. "Thank you, Jesse."
[aw so cute. sorry i made this ending happy. lol.]
