Lana's POV:

"What time is it?" Brendon asks.

I stare at my phone and check the hour.

"5:17 pm" I say as I turn off my phone to avoid interruptions during tutories. "Alright, let's start then."

I explain him different techniques and hacks for some of the equations. "These are not too difficult, it's just a matter of practice, and your brain will adjust to any special formula and stuff, it'll be almost automatic." I tell him.

In most of the equations, there are "shortcuts", or steps can be skipped, but what I did was explain him how to do it with and without taking shortcuts, so that he can always be sure of what is going on. Surprisingly, he's not slow or difficult to work with, but he will still be needing practice.

"You're doing pretty good, so far, Mr. Urie."

"Thanks Ms. Lujano, I have a good tutor." He said.

After two hours of pure equations, Mrs. Urie enters to Brendon's room.

"Hello! Just checking in. Um, you guys done with your math stuff yet? Boyd and I made dinner, and we were hoping you could join us, Lana." Brendon's mom says with her warm smile. She looks so sweet, and happy that I'm here, I find it hard to say no to her. Brendon looks at me nervously of what my answer could be.

"Sure, Mrs. Urie, we were just finishing. I'd love to stay for dinner." I say and Brendon smiles

"Oh please, call me Grace! Boyd is downstairs, we'll be waiting for you guys!"

"We'll be there in a minute mom." Brendon says, and Grace leaves the room. "She's being awfully sweet because I've never brought a girl to the house." He says and notices my awkward stare. "Um, you know, girl as in friend, or just in general, yeah." He corrects nervously.

"Haha I get it Urie, now let's go! Your parents are waiting for us."

Brendon leads the way to the dinning room and as I enter I can smell how delicious the food must taste like. Grace and Brendon's dad are sitting together and talking, probably waiting for Brendon and me to come so they can start eating. The table has a rectangle shape with eight chairs, which kinda leaves me wondering why they have so many seats.

"Dad, I'd like you to meet my friend Lana, she's tutoring and helping me out with pre calculus class."

"So nice to meet you Lana, I'm Boyd, we're glad to have you here with us tonight" Brendon's dad says.

"Pleasure's mine Mr. Urie."

"Seat wherever you'd like, Lana! The rest of my children are out going to college and doing their lives, so there's plenty room for everything in this house now!" Says Grace

"I didn't know you had siblings." I tell Brendon.

"Yeah, I do, I'm the youngest of five". He grins at me.

I always thought he was an only child. Boyd and Grace tell stories about Brendon back to when he was just a kid, and I laugh at most of them, I can tell he was embarrassed, but for some reason his expressions didn't show any discomfort on me knowing stuff about him. It's actually nice to be here with them; this lovely family. The Uries are a very sweet and normal couple of parents, and not some stuck up rich parents who were braggy about their son leading a famous pop punk band. Not that I expected them to be that way.
