My alarm clock wakes me up as I slowly turn it to snooze. I pop out of bed and rush out of my bedroom. It's finally the first day at my new school.

I miss California already. I miss the fresh strawberries in my backyard. I miss my old house back in Sacramento with the wild flowers out in the front. The thing I will miss most would be my Dad. Even though he abused my mom and I, I still miss him. The cops came to our house when I was thirteen and took him away. My mom and I tried to live in the house for a month or two but we just couldn't. The memories were dug too deep into the house. So we decided to move out and start a new life. She chose a town somewhere in the middle of Georgia. It had a small town feeling because houses were huge. Like two to five acre lots. It's crazy to think that my mom and I are just leaving town like that. It's almost like she's trying to push away the memories, which is hard to do.

I blink a couple times and realize I was day dreaming. All I can think about is my Dad and how he could just do that to us. I blink again into reality and begin getting ready for my new school. As I'm curling my hair I wonder what the school like. I hope it isn't like my old school. All the girls were mean and nasty to each other. Especially me. I was called mean names, pushed into corners and beat up a couple times. I burn myself on my forehead when I'm finishing my last curl. So I decide to cover it up with makeup and it slowly goes away.

When I'm finished getting ready I skip down the stairs of our new house. The walls are filled with pictures of my mom and I and the paint outside is a bright lemon yellow. When you walk off our porch there's a big horse ranch with five horses and a bunch of hay and sattles. I don't know why my mom got so many horses because it's only the two if us but the more the merrier I guess. And next to it is a farm with chickens, cows, pigs, and turkeys. Then on the right side of the house is a really big open space where I can ride the horses with my mom and maybe have a party. We got the biggest lot which is 3 acres, I was shocked when my mom told me how much land we owned. Especially when I saw the river running through next to our house. Again I blink into reality and look down at what I'm wearing. I have a black pencil skirt on with a cream colored sweater. I top it all off with a pink infinity scarf and some diamond earrings. I feel my mom's eyes on me and looking at everything I have on from my black flats to the way my hair is curled. She gives me one of those "mother" grins and gives me a big, warm hug. I decide against eating breakfast and rush to the car since we're late.

I'm 15 now so I'm old enough to at least start the car. My mom runs out with a bagel and Starbucks coffee. I grab the bag and devour everything she gave me as she drives out of our lot. I guess I was hungry. My mom goes on and on about the new house and how we will meet our new neighbors and how nice it is to start everything fresh and new. Before we knew it we were at the school and I couldn't be more afraid. The school is empty but from the look of how big it is I can tell how many people actually go here. I guess Georgia takes the phrase "go big or go home" really seriously.

"Go big or go home I guess" my mom's says as we walk out of the car," That's what was thinking" I say as I take my first steps onto the school. I receive goosebumps chilling my insides and I can't decide if it was a good and bad sign. After we walk past a few buildings and trees we are at the front office. I get a few looks from the assistants and teachers but all that matters is me getting my forms signed and receiving my schedule.
