“Wake up, you little witch,” someone was shining a flashlight into my eyes, so I squeezed them tightly shut. “Hey boss! We’ve got a live one! She’s awake.”

Boss? I thought silently, who is this boss? Could it be Tartarus? Ugh, my head... where the hell am I? I moved slightly, as if someone who was waking up from a deep sleep, getting my bearings before I opened my eyes. No... my hands and arms are bound. I opened my eyes slowly, taking in the scenery. It was a dimly lit cavern; stalactites and stalagmites covered the entire area, except where I was placed. It was like a raised platform made out of smooth stone... obsidian? I glanced to my side, Shit... where did they get the rack? I thought this old torture device was destroyed hundreds of years ago.

“Hello, daughter. I see you’re awake. Don’t you like what I’ve done with the place? You seem rather repulsed, my little girl.” Tartarus was in my face; his breath reeked of blood and earth. He dressed like my bro... his minions.  I glared back at him, and spit in his face with what little strength I could recover. “You little spitfire!” He chuckled, wiping my spit from his face, “you were much more behaved when you were little.”

“How would you know?” I growled, “you were never around, ‘dad’, so how the hell would you know anything at all. You’re not even my dad, you cretin!”

“Au contraire, Mon Cherie, I was ALWAYS there, lurking in the shadows. Waiting for my move.  Waiting to kill you. That’s why I planted your ‘brothers’ into our little family. In case I failed, I knew they would have the chance to, how you say, finish the job? And I see those miserable fools failed worse than I have.”

“You can’t hurt me, Gaia will know! She’ll find me and kill you, sending you back to Hades where you belong!” I snapped, trying to hold in my tears. I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry.

“Foolish child! This place is protected by evil magic, and she cannot get in because of her pure heart. You are my captive, therefore, you are trapped here, and your magic is useless. Only a being without magic, like my minions, can enter and leave freely.” His eyes flashed with anger.

I sighed happily, Mikey...
