This is Gonna Hurt

“We’ve almost made it, I can see the light of the cave entrance right up there!” No name said excitedly as he pointed in front of us.

“And where do you think you two are going?” A low growl sounded from behind us.

I spun around, releasing No Name’s hand, face to face with evil itself. Tartarus was even more hideous than before. The rage turning his face a darker shade of blood red. Angry eyes bulging out of his sockets.

“Did you really think you could escape me, foolish little witch? Haven’t you seen what I’m capable of?” He raised his hand at No Name, and a flash of crimson light shot out of his hand and into his face. No Name’s eyes rolled back into his skull, showing the same listless glaze as the woman in the cell.

He turned to me and grabbed my shoulders hard, lifting me up as if I was a feather, and threw me against the hard stone wall. I crumpled to the ground, pain shooting up my back. “Please, don’t do this. I know you’re in there, please fight him.” For a brief second, a flash of his human side had shown through, terror crossed his face at what he had done. Shaking his head, his eyes glazed over again. Behind him, Tartarus chuckled.

“Your kind soul can’t over throw my power in here. Only darkness prevails in this place. Haven’t you seen that?” Tartarus raised his hand at me, and I felt my body being lifted off of the ground. Once I was at ceiling height, I breathed a small sigh of relief. Mikey was slowly walking up to us, his sword in hand.

Tartarus barely had time to turn around as Mikey swung the blade at his throat, slicing it open. He swung again, blade connecting with Tartarus’ spinal cord, and continuing through, cutting his head completely off.

He collapsed, his psychic hold releasing me, I fell to the ground, letting out a small groan as my head connected with one of the larger stones on the ground.
