I awoke with a start, I sat straight up. I ached all over and my shooting pains were coming from my back. My body was bruised and scraped. I felt like crap. My vision was slightly blurred and I raised a hand to touch my pounding head. I felt a bandage around it and when I looked at my fingers they were soaked with blood from it. I glanced around the room I was in. It was completely white with some medical equipment. I realized I was attached to some machines, including one that was infecting a purple liquid into my arm. My back killed.
I put a hand on it, and realized there was something different. Long, strong wings were coming out of my back. Not just two though. There were four wings. I tried to stretch them out but they were broken. I looked back to see them, they were completely mangled. They were a fiery red colour.
A nurse walked into the room, looked up from her clipboard at me, then quickly left the room. The walls were too thick to hear what they were saying, but I heard two nervous voices mumbling. Another nurse walked in, she had dark skin, and curly black hair.
"H-hi." She stuttered. "How a-are you feeling?" She asked nervously. I couldn't speak, my vocal chords were damaged. "I-I'm going to do some t-tests on you. D-don't worry! They are just ph-physical tests to test your strength." I stood up to begin the testing. Then she removed me from the machines First she prodded my upper right wing. I screamed in pain. I couldn't speak, but I could scream. "I-I'm sorry!" She said cautiously. She acted like I was a bomb ready to explode, like a weapon. She preformed a few more tests on me, to see if I could walk, how strong my arms were and other ones like that.
After we were done she walked me through a corridor with a mirror at the end. I saw myself, I looked horrible. I must have been asleep longer than I thought.
My body had lost most of its weight, I was just skin and bones now. My glasses were no where to be seen, and my body was beaten and bruised. I heard a voice in my head "hurt them, hurt them!" It sounded hysterical. It kept repeating, over and over until I couldn't think anything else, It consumed me. Then I heard a maniacs laugh, I thought it was the voices until I realized the laughing was mine. I was on the ground, slumped against the wall.
The nurse talking urgently on the phone, a fresh scratch across her face. I couldn't stop. Laughing felt so good. I glanced into the mirror and saw my blood red eyes. Doctors and nurses rushed into the room, some with needles filled with red liquid, others with clip boards. The voice in my head was still reaping the phrase, I realized I had heard the voice before, it was Maverick's. My vision blurred as a doctor injected me with the syringe, and my eyelids closed.
