"You were up late again last night? Something on your mind?" You ask your brother as you pour him a glass of orange juice.
"You heard me. Sorry. I was preparing."
"For what?" You question him.
"Fight shape for the field. Cardio. Football captain."
"Nice. Well, even if you don't get it Arch, you're still part of the team. And who gets the captaincy, that's not you, is a loser."
"Geez, you always know what to say." He laughed and I smiled.

After school Reggie's brother didn't need tutoring, he had some school play rehearsal going on. I sat in Pop's with Reggie.
"You and my brother have a week?"
"I'm going to beat him up-"
"Reggie." I sighed reaching over to him and placing my hand on his clamped fist.
"Fine. I won't beat him up." Reggie smiled at me.
"Good." I smiled as Hermione Lodge walked over.
"What can I get you two?" She asked and we had our usual order.

"Okay Betty. Tell me everything about this Trev." Veronica gleamed as we all walked with Jughead and Kevin finding a spot on the bleachers. We spotted Archie and sat down behind him as he studied on his cue cards.
"Oh there's nothing to tell, just one of Betty's sources, there's nothing romantic in the offing." Kevin said saying his brown bag of lunch.
"Why is everything weird here, cant it just be a date. What about you Archie? How's life in a PG world?" Archie looked at her funny. "PG? Post-Grundy." I nudged her on behalf of my brother. "What too soon?"
"Coach Clayton says I have a shot at varsity captain, so I'm not thinking about anything else right now."
"You're back to being boring."
"Are you maybe throwing yourself into football to avoid your feelings?"
"I'm not avoiding anything Betty. I'm trying to get my life back on track." Archie said to his friend as I sat behind him and rolled my eyes and faced Jughead.
Valerie came over and began to speak to Archie about some mentor from New York who could help coach Archie on the side and meeting him.
"Kay, now you have zero excuses for avoiding music."
"Sorry to interrupt sad breakfast club and (Y/N)."
"Hey Cheryl." You smile at her and she turns to face the rest of the group.
"But I'm here to formally invite you to Jason's memorial at Thornhill this weekend." She said handing out black envelopes to everyone. "To my surprise, my mother added you to the guest list." Cheryl pouted at Veronica. "In case your tempted to steal our gold candle sticks, don't." She said firmly. "We'll be searching bags." She went to turn and leave. "Oh and (Y/N). Reggie told me to tell you that Oliver says had another rehearsal tonight."
"I know."
"But he may need some tutoring." Cheryl smirked and walked off. You just roll your eyes.
"You and Reggie? Pul-lease." Veronica scoffed. Jughead stayed quiet.
"He's a creep." Kevin told me.
"I'm trying to tutor his brother is a very professional way, but Reggie always has Moose or Chuck over. They're always going on about getting laid and banging a new girl every week." You lie to your friends. That was close.
"He may be a creep, but I've seen that way that boy looks at you." Kevin chuckled and I rolled my eyes.
"He's all yours Kev." You joke and Jughead final cracks a smile.

You sat alone on the bleachers. You wanted to watch your brother versus your boyfriend. You sighed. You hated keeping that a secret from him. You had both discussed on numerous occasions about telling him eventually. Your train of thought was cut off by Reggie going to pull Archie up and then he winced so he swapped hands.
"What's wrong with your hand?" Reggie asked.
"Nothing. It's fine." Archie told him.
"You're not playing with a busted hand." Reggie said, little did you know but your brother and Reggie could be nice to each other, but Archie had his suspicions about Reggie.
"I said it's fine Reg."
"Archie, sit this one out. You'll thank me later." He suggested.
"Are you really that scared of me?" Archie spoke over the top of him.
"Fellas. Are we gonna chit chat or are we gonna play?" Coach shouted.
"Let's play." Archie said empowered.
"Fine." Reggie said and gave you a quick glance because he knew you were watching and the back to the training session.
"It's your funeral."

After the session I waited for Reggie near the change rooms because he insisted that he walk me to class - get a rumour or something going, but I'm pretty sure it was to piss Cheryl off. We walked down the hall and I slapped Reggie's chest when I spotted Archie with Veronica. I watched her mend my brothers hand and then kiss his wrist.
"I'll see you later." I said to Reggie and he walked off in the opposite direction as Veronica walk away from Arch.
"Oh, I didn't know you and Veronica were together."
"We're not." Archie grunted at me.
"Bro, chill." I said and he turned his head away from me. "If you need help, you know I'm here for you right." I smiled at him placing my hand on his shoulder and giving it a squeeze.
"Thanks." He smiled and I got up and placed a kiss on his head. He looked up at me and I think he could spot Reggie behind us. I thought he had left.
"Why did Reggie walk you here?" Archie asked suspiciously. I rolled my eyes thinking of a good excuse.
"He said he would leave me alone."
"(Y/N). He is bad news. I know he put your name in that stupid book-"
"Just drop it Archie, please." I told him and he dropped his head. I didn't say another word and left.

We all arrived at Thornhill for Jason's memorial. You knew Veronica was staying the night. Something about this place made you feel, things. You and Reggie reconciled here but this place was hella creepy. You dressed in your only simple black dress and your hair half up. Boots were your shoe choice, heels might be inappropriate. Archie had brought Jason's captains jacket with him to give to Mrs Blossom. You sat behind him and Valerie, next to Jughead. Archie glanced at you as Ames Blossom caressed his cheek.
"Oh I'm sorry." She muttered startled. "Thank you Archibald." Archie came back over and sat with the rest of us who actually cared to attend this memorial.
"Did she just touch your hair?" Kevin spoke up what we were all thinking.
"That was really sweet, what you did." I told him and he grinned.
"She deserves it more than I do."
"Days like these really put things into perspective, huh. I'm mean, we're lucky. At least we're alive." Veronica said sitting down in front of Valerie. Music began to play as Cheryl entered the room, dressed in white rather than black like the rest of us.
"Oh my god." Veronica said shocked. She was the last person to see Cheryl before coming down."
"Yes." Kevin said excitedly.

Today was judgement day. You sat outside the coach's office. Both Reggie and Archie were in there waiting for the call of captain.
"I saw a lot of fire and hustle in you two this week, it was almost too close to call." The coach paused. "Reggie, your time will come." What?! "But for this season at least, this is a new number, seeing as you took it upon yourself to retire Jason's, which was, the right call. Exactly what a captain should and would do."
"Dude are you insane, take the guernsey." Reggie said like Archie had seen three heads.
"I can't. I can't coach. I love playing football, but your starting line up deserves a captain who's only love is football. Someone like Reggie." I smiled. Even though I knew my brother knew that Reggie and I weren't dating, that was the right thing to do.
"Wh-what?" He paused to process everything. "I mean, yeah." He added confidently. That's my man.
"What? You quitting on me Andrews?" Coach asked.
"No. And I really hope you don't cut me coach, cause I freaking love being a bulldog. But that part of me I would have to give to you if I was captain, I gotta save that for something else." Archie walked out first and then Reggie with the new '17' guernsey on.
"Looks good." I smiled hugging him. Reggie placed a kiss on my head. "You and football are both my first loves, I hope you know that." Reggie smirked and placed a kiss on my forehead. I nodded blushing. "Good. I've gotta go tell the guys. I'll see you later." Reggie said pulling away and walking off. I made my way to the music room where I spotted Archie strumming and tuning his guitar. I decided to leave him be. I couldn't tell him just yet.
