The week passed by quickly, and between the cupcake baking, preschool drop-offs, case studies and avoiding a certain detective while at work, let's just say that it has been hectic and leave it at that.

Saturday, being Dylan's last day of work for the week he finally got to take a breather and just relax and reset for the next week. Being stealthy was not his forté, nor is it a talent of his to be sneaky, which is why ignoring Christian and hiding from him has taken a huge toll on Dylan's body.

Dylan can feel his stress-level increasing and he guessed that it wouldn't take too long now before he would explode. There have been instances where they've both been alone in the same room, and it literally took all of Dylan's patience not to burst.

Christian is being rather persistent about hanging out, in addition to being an intrusive dick by asking Dylan about his life, his parents, Isabella and his husband. Dylan didn't bother in correcting him about the last part though, seeing as it's one of the main reasons why he's not making any romantic advances towards him.

Christian may have been an asshole for leaving him behind to rot, but if there's one thing he wouldn't do, it would be hitting on and trying to romance a married person. He always gave this sour look – similarly to how a person eating a lemon would look, it was hilarious – while he mentioned Dylan's 'spouse', and being the vindictive person that Dylan was, he took a lot of pleasure and comfort in that. It was rather empowering actually – like 'look how successful and happy I am without you, fucker'. Serves him right for leaving Dylan.

"Hey Dylan, thank Izzy for the cupcakes she baked for m- Why are you sitting alone in your office and smirking by yourself?" He couldn't believe how fast Melissa talked. He'd seen her at court and witnessed her talking a mile-a-minute which practically leaves the other attorneys' heads spinning, which again results in them winning cases since the others can't keep up, but he never actually noticed it before now.

"Hi Mel, oh nothing, just happy that it's Saturday is all." Dylan said, not wanting her to know the real reason, but Melissa is like a crossbreed between a hound and a bullshit detector, another reason as to why we were winning a lot of cases, so it doesn't surprise Dylan that she saw through his flimsy excuse.

"Why are you acting so shifty? As a matter of fact, you've been shifty all week. Does this have something to do about why you're acting like a ninja around the office whenever Deputy Hot Stuff is here?" Dylan resisted the urge to face palm at Melissa's bluntness. Sometimes his choices in the friend-department just irked him and the idea of pouring something gross in her coffee sounds better and better by the second.

Dylan realized that he should answer her question, but what does he do now? Lie and tell her nothing or let her in on the truth? Firstly, Dylan's workplace was for work only, and he didn't want to involve his personal life, and secondly, the fewer people that knew about him and Christian the better, seeing as though he was a mistake Dylan made a long time ago.

On the other hand, she was his best friend and knowing her she's going to find out about it somehow. Better it come from Dylan than anybody else because if that happens he will be subjected to a monumental conglomeration of raves and rants.

Ah, screw it. "We dated a while back, I thought we were going to spend the rest of our lives together, but he left me without a word." Dylan uttered as quickly as possible, just like ripping of a band aid. The room stilled for a couple of seconds as he watched the cogs in her head turn.

She gradually scrunched up her face into a menacing one so Dylan readied his ears to what was about to happen. "What!? That son of a bitch! That fucker! That... that asshole! How can he just come here and parade himself in front of you and act like it's nothing? I'm going to kill him. I'm calling Broderick right now and I'm going to demand that he buy a shovel, because I'm burying that bitch tonight! Do you think that Broderick will agree to being an accessory to murder? Because, I mean he is kind of strong and built, and we'll defend him in court obviously."
