So, when I first started writing this book I had a lot of ideas on how it was going to be, but when I started writing I became aware that the plot was too thin and easy to figure out. It took a lot of time, but I decided that I was going to re-write the whole thing and thicken the plot so that the story would become more eventful and perhaps, hopefully, more exiting. Still, I'm a very slow writer, so forgive me if the update-span is too sporadic or irregular, but when that is said I hope you guys will stick to the end. Here's chapter five for you all! :)
"What do you mean you couldn't find anything!?" Dylan bellowed angrily. He knew that the said anger was misplaced and he felt a little bit bad about screaming at the poor and frightened police officer in front of him, but seriously, how could they not find anything? It was as clear as day that even his 5-year old daughter saw them, so how could someone who was educated in the medical field not spot the bruises?"The force's medical examiner couldn't find any signs to domestic abuse. There were no bruises, broken bones, sprains or fractures or anything at all. Sergeant Lawson said to tell you that the examiner took an X-ray of the body parts you mentioned on the report as well, and that came out clean too." The officer said uncertainly, and almost a little bit shakily.
Poor guy. He looked like he was kind of new to this type of work and moreover the police squad. His light blue eyes held a kind of innocence, almost like how a puppy looked at you when it was hungry. "What about the judge?" Dylan demanded desperately, incredulous about how this case was developing.
The officer's eyes widened comically at his question, and from that second on he knew that he wasn't going to like the answer. "The judge agreed to the examination of the children, but since the evidence in the report wasn't substantial -." The young cop winced apologetically while Dylan disrupted him.
"And since the examination turned out to be clean, I conclude that he's not willing to give that warrant as of now." Dylan frowned heavily while finishing his sentence. He turned his head towards Melissa who was sitting in the chair across his desk, right next to the doe-eyed officer, silently begging for her to give him a hand. She looked straight into his eyes, giving him a sliver of hope for just a second, before she too derived to the same conclusion as Dylan did.
"There's nothing we can do as of right now, Dylan. We should just let the police do their work. They'll catch him eventually, and when they do, we'll send him straight to jail for a long time." Her words of consolation and encouragement went straight over his head. His focus was currently elsewhere. There are so many things in this case that don't add up, and he couldn't help but blaming himself for not being smart enough or perceptive enough to find out what's really going on.
Amid his internal self-chastising, the officer and Melissa eventually left the office and Dylan somehow ended up slumped across his desk with his forehead resting on the cold mahogany in a pitiful fashion. That is, until he realized that he was wasting valuable time so he grabbed his car keys and drove his way up to the precinct in a not so law-abiding speed, and upon arrival, bursted his way through Christian's office door resulting in Christian addressing him with a startled and alarmed look.
