Chapter 19 | The Alliance

I'm at home, simply lying on my bed, staring at my phone—the screen is still covered in cracks, but I'm used to it now.

I scroll through my Skype contacts. I hadn't talked to Glory and Alex since I was locked in the closet with Lee. It seems like so long ago.

At the very end of my contact list is one that I really haven't seen for a while: snickersbar.

Lee.

I watch as the little dot beside his name flashes from yellow to green. He's online. Right now. That's great, just great. Absolutely great.

I guess by now he's seen that I'm online too, and by simply clicking on his contact, I've started an entire conversation...

What? It's Tyler? Tyler's the one who stood up for me against his own twin brother? I can trust Tyler more than I can trust my own friends?

Wow. That hurts.

But now that I think about it, it really does all make sense: Tyler's behavior when Ms. O'Carthy was addressing the class—like he knew who it really was.
