Chapter 12

We continued letting them spar for another hour. Then we dismissed them. "Archery lessons will be in the archery range half an hour after lunch, show up with you bow and quivers. Those who have charmspeak or powers come to the the beach half an hour after lunch too." Bianca announced. Then the campers dispersed. We headed back into our cabin, exhausted.

"I really want to swim, but I can't because of my stupid mask." I say, throwing said mask on the floor. "Yeah, too bad." Thalia said. "Let's iris message the others, see how they're doing." Nico suggested. We agreed and I created a rainbow. Calypso threw in a drachma and said, "O Iris, goddess of the rainbow, accept my offering. Show me Jason Grace at camp Jupiter." Then Jason appeared in the rainbow with his mask. "Lightning!" I hissed to get his attention. "Oh! Hang on. Take a 10 min break, campers!" He shouted the last part towards the other side. He turns towards us with a grin. "Hey, how's it going?" He asked. We told him everything. "What's the news on your side?" I asked. "Only Reyna knows our identity. No one else. We don't really need to do much training the Romans are good enough. We just need to train them in archery. Which they hate." He said. We exchanged stories and statuses until he had to teach again. I slashed through the rainbow. I sat down on the couch.

After a moment's silence, I realised I hadn't told them about what was happening to the pegasi. "Guys, I have something to tell you. Today I went to visit Rose and Black Jack. Black Jack told me that Derrick has been torturing them. Black Jack says that Derrick kicked them, starved them, beat them..." I said. They were outraged. "How dare he! The pegasi could be very helpful in the war. I can't believe he did that." Silena exploded. "Styx! I forgot to heal them! I gotta go." I cried. "I'll go with you." Silena said. I nodded and we threw on our masks and ran all the way to the stables. Dam Derrick.

Thankfully, the stables were empty. Lady Rhodania! Help us! We are really hungry! And in pain! Lord Derrick did this to us! Was all I could hear when I entered the stables. I gestured for Silena to enter and the pegasi bucked, not recognizing her. Calm down! She's my friend! She's gonna help me heal you! And don't call Derrick a 'Lord' he is not worthy of being called a 'Lord'. I reassured them. Ask her to show her face. The pegasi said still not trusting Silena. No, but I'll let you smell her hand. I replied. "Beauty, let Guido smell your hand." I said. Guido was Silena's usual pegasus. She nodded and went up to the pegasus. She stuck her hand under Guido's nose. He sniffed it, then it's Silena! "He recognizes you." I said with a smell. We poured nectar over the pegasi wounds which soon closed up. Then I clapped my hands to summon some horse food for them with my blessing from Hestia. But how? Silena... she... died. Guido seemed hesitant to say the word. I was about to explain but then someone entered the stable.

It was Derrick and Josh. Derrick glared at us. "What are you doing here with my pegasi?" He asked. His pegasi? Blackjack scoffed. Derrick didn't notice so I figured he only contacted me. I put up a hand to calm the pegasi. "What are you doing here, Derrick?" I asked in my monotone voice. "Obviously to visit my pegasi! What else?" He asked. "Visit? More like torture!" Silena almost screamed at him. Amazingly, she kept her monotone. Her statement seemed to stumble Derrick. "W-what do you mean?" I sneered at him, "I'm a daughter of Poseidon, the pegasi told me you have been kicking them, hitting them, and starving them. Who knows how much more?" I say. "The pegasi are lying!" He said. He had crossed the line. "Pegasi are innocent creatures, they don't lie, besides, what do they gain when they lie? And by the looks of it, they have been telling the truth." I retorted. He huffed in annoyance just as the conch horn sounded for lunch. He left.

Eat and rest well. Tomorrow we will have pegasi riding lessons. You can have your revenge then. I told them before leaving.

I was at the beach with Nico, Silena, Leo and Thalia. The others all went to help with archery. The campers who came were : Piper, Derrick, Josh, Nyssa, Jake, Drew, and A Hades camper. I can't believe Hades had another son. "Okay, since we don't know all of you, please introduce yourselves and your parentage." Silena said. "Piper McLean daughter of Aphrodite. Head couselor" Piper said. "Drew Tanaka, daughter of Aphrodite." That witch! Silena screeched in our heads. "Derrick Havings, Son of Poseidon." He seemed proud of himself. "Josh Johansson, Son of Zeus." He looked even prouder than Derrick. "Nyssa, daughter of Hephaestus. Head couselor after Leo Valdez." Good choice. She's been a good sister. But why isn't Jake counselor? Not that I'm complaining. Leo said in our heads. "Jake Mason, Son of Hephaestus." Then the son of Hades went, "Gregory Mortigen, but just call me Greg. Son of Hades, head counselor after Nico di Angelo." I don't know about him, gotta check how powerful he is. I heard Nico's voice. "OK, Greg, follow Death here," I said pointing at Nico who walked off to another area of the beach. "Nyssa and Jake follow Fire," Leo waved. "Piper and Drew follow Beauty here." I pointed to Silena. "Josh follow Huntress here," I pointed to Thals. "And Derrick follow me." I headed over to the water, Derrick following.

"Show me what you can do." I instructed. He summoned a large wave that crashed into the sand. "Good, but is that all you've learned?" I asked. He scowled but nodded glumly. I raised a huge wave as tall at Poseidon's full godly height. He's eyes were wide open. "Try it." I said. He summoned a larger wave, I sigh.

Leo's POV
"So, how did you two get fire powers? If I remember correctly the only child of Hephaestus that has fire powers is mys- I mean Leo Valdez." I asked my siblings excitedly. Nyssa narrowed her eyes, "How did you know?" She asked me. "I have my ways." I answered. "Your voice... you sound like... no, it can't be." Jake murmured. "My voice? Oh, Styx!" I muttered under my voice, I just realised I was not speaking in a monotone. "Sound like who?" I asked, now using monotone. "Nothing. Back to your question. Hephaestus granted us fire powers after... after... L-Leo... l-left." Nyssa stuttered, tears forming in her eyes. My heart broke, I did not realise how my disappearance affected my siblings. Jake hugged her and comforted her like this was a normal occurrence. "It's hard for us to talk about Leo after he disappeared. But it's especially hard on Harley and Nyssa." Jake explained to me softly. I felt my own tears forming as I nodded. Poor Harley and Nyssa. It took Nyssa awhile, but she eventually calmed down. While waiting, I wanted so much to rip this stupid mask off and yell : LEO VALDEZ IS RIGHT HERE! but I can't.

"Ok, so have you two tried out your power?" I asked. They nodded and lit each of their hands. I nodded then showed them other stuff with fire.

Silena's POV
"Drew, slap yourself." I ordered, charmspeak heavily laced my words. Surprisingly, she did slap herself. Piper snickered. "Piper, slap yourself." I said. She seemed to be struggling but she did. "Now try it on me." I intructed. Drew went first and I steeled my mind against her charmspeak. "Beauty, slap yourself." She ordered. I did not. It was easy not listening to her, her charmspeak is weak. "Beauty, slap yourself." Piper said. It was a lot harder but I managed not to slap myself. Piper looked shocked, "How? That worked against Gaia!" She cried. "Piper, do 2 push ups right now" I said. She reluctantly got down to do the push ups. "You need to think, I do not listen to others. Then you will not be affected by charmspeak." I said. Then I continued to train them to be stronger in charmspeak and how to be resistant to it.

Nico's POV
I studied my new half brother critically. He looked about the same as me, except that his skin was a shade of light brown. I summoned a skeleton. "Can you do this?" I asked. He nodded and summoned a skeleton too. Our skeletons talked in chattering noises and and soon became friends. Greg let out a small chuckle that I was trying to hold in. I willed my skeleton to do the hokey pokey. Greg looked surprised. "Try it, just think of something you want your skeleton to do." I explained. Then his skeleton started dancing with mine. I struggled to hold in a laugh. "Excellent. Your progress is good. Now will it to fight my skeleton." I praised him. I willed my skeleton to fight back if his attacked. Sure enough, they soon engaged in a hand to hand combat. "Very good, Greg. Not many gets it on their first try. Now try this." I then summoned a skeleton with a sword and shield. He concentrated for a minute. And a skeleton rose with a bow and arrow. "Are the bow and arrow your usual weapons?" I asked. He nodded and tapped a black bead on his camp necklace. A bow and quiver appeared on his back. The bow and arrows were made of stygian iron. "Ok. Now get him to fight." I said. He concentrated a second and his skeleton moved back until there was a shooting distance between the two undead. His skeleton started firing arrows at mine and my skeleton block a couple of them but a few arrows found its mark. I then taught him more Underworld stuff.

Thalia's POV
When I found out that all Josh could do was summon lightning and light trees on fire, I electrified him. I started slow, by summoning wind and flying up. (Chaos took away my fear of heights) "Try this." I said.he managed to fly up a metre and then fell down. I was 5 metres high. I rolled my eyes and flew higher until I was 10 metres high. "Fly to this height." I ordered. When it was clear he couldn't manage it, I flew down. I sigh, it's gonna be a loooong day.
