I complained and rebelled as Meera lead me to the washroom, even though I knew I was going to follow her.We stood in front of the mirror, that's when I realised how terrifying I was looking. My eyes were all puffy and red and my face was smudged with  dried tears. My hair was all over the place, despite the ponytail I had tied.

I opened the faucet and splashed some water on my face.I watched the droplets trickle down my face, cooling it.

I scrubbed my face and felt Meera tug at my hair.In five minutes we were done and the bell hadn't even rung yet.Meera walked to her class and I sprinted towards my locker and then to class.I managed to enter a second before the bell rang.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sat on the third bench,it was my favourite spot,I wasn't right under the teacher's nose and at the same time I wasn't right at the back.

I looked around the class in boredom as we waited for the teacher to enter as usual. My eyes landed on Caleb who was scribbling something ferociously in his notebook. It was a brown leather bound notebook which I had often seen him carry around. His eyebrows were scrunched up and his lips were narrowed in a straight line.I tried to catch his eye,but he was too engrossed in his work.

The teacher entered the class as we all mumbled a 'Good Morning'.Caleb's head shot up and he slammed his book shut and stuffed it in his bag.

I turned once more to catch his eye,but this time he looked away on purpose, his eyes wandered everywhere but in my direction.

Why was he ignoring me?
I tried calling out to him,but it came out more like a hiss in my attempt of not being caught by the teacher.

'Ms Williams is there a problem?'
I blushed red as all eyes ,except his, fell on me.'No sir...'
There goes my attempt of not being caught.I internally rolled my eyes.
'Good. I'd appreciate it if you payed a little more attention.'

'Yes sir.I'm sorry.'

He turned back to the smart board, giving me a quick curt nod.

Trying very hard to pay attention to what was being taught,I listened to the teacher for the rest of the class. As soon as the bell rang I slammed my book shut and looked up to find myself staring at Caleb's brown eyes and I was about to smile at him but he turned his gaze again and walked out of the class.

I pushed through the crowd and followed him ,"Caleb!Caleb!Caleb, wait!"

I had almost lost sight of him when he finally stopped and turned around to face me as I caught up to him."Is there a problem?",he asked me politely.

Something was wrong, the Caleb who had known to be cocky all my life was being polite.

"Umm...I wanted to ask when we were going to interview the first student for the article.Have you picked one yet?"

"Oh yeah,I have...we could go after school. We'll take my car and don't forget to bring your camera.See you then!"

I stood there rooted to my spot as he walked away.Something was definitely wrong. He was actually being polite. There was no hint of sarcasm in his voice .I had never seen this side of Caleb.

"Caleb,wait!"

He turned around again."Is everything okay between us?",I asked him unsurely.

"Yeah, why not?",he replied with a smile and then walked away .

This didn't seem like Caleb at all.I walked to my next class with an uneasy feeling.Had Caleb really changed?Did he just decide to be kind to me?

All my life all I've wanted was for him to leave me alone and now that he has ,it seems really weird.Maybe I'm just not used to this.
