Aurora woke up highly disoriented as sunlight streamed harshly through the open blinds. Glancing around, she attempted to remember where she was, considering the room surrounding her looked nothing like Jonah's bedroom.
Callie and Jack were still asleep, both using the other as a way to hold themselves up. In the corner of the room, Daniel was snoring lightly, curled up into a little ball in his chair. Aurora's head was resting on a sleeping Jonah's shoulder and her legs were stretched across Corbyn's lap, who was currently wide awake and looking at something on his phone.
Slowly sitting up and stretching her aching limbs, she gasps as last night's events hit her in one huge wave of emotions. Her surroundings begin to make sense as she remembers everything. Squeezing her eyes shut, Aurora struggles to keep her tears at bay, taking deep breaths in an attempt to soothe the oncoming panic attack.
Her mind races, attempting to find anything that will take her mind off of it.
"Where's-" the brunette pauses, her eyes flashing open once more. "Where's Heroin?"
"I'm right here," Zach says quietly, appearing in front of her and looking as though he hadn't slept at all. He hands her a cup of coffee before taking one of the seats across from her. "I figured you'd be waking up soon. It's already noon."
Aurora groans, quickly chugging half of the hospital coffee despite it's bitter, watered down taste.
"I didn't mean to sleep that long," she admits sheepishly. "I just wanted a power nap."
"Don't worry about it, you needed it. Besides, I have good news," he continues, a small smile briefly crossing his face. "Carmen is being discharged first thing tomorrow morning. And she requested to see you-"
As soon as the words leave his lips, she's down the hallway, not waiting for him to finish his sentence. Skidding past doctors giving her disapproving glances, Aurora practically falls through the doorway to Carmen's hospital room.
Upon seeing how exhausted the young girl still looks, she sobers up immediately. Gently nudging Carmen over, Aurora squeezes herself into the small bed as well and rests her head on her shoulder.
"Hey, Caramel," she murmurs, scared to move too suddenly while being so close.
"Hey, Aurora." Despite being in extreme amounts of physical pain compared to Aurora's emotional pain, she still manages to offer a smile. "I heard you're moving in with the boys."
"Funnily enough, I heard the same thing about you," Aurora teases. "We'll be one big, crazy family."
"Can you believe they're actually letting me go home tomorrow?" She questions, gesturing to all of her bandages. "I thought I'd be here for weeks."
"It's shocking," Aurora agrees. "And I was really hoping I'd have enough time to get one of the doctor's numbers. He looked just like Patrick Dempsey."
Carmen giggles, but the sound stops abruptly as the pain flares in her rib cage. Aurora jumps up, glancing down at her friend concernedly.
"I'm fine, I promise."
Conversation lulls between the two girls, each quicky becoming lost in their own thoughts and simply enjoying being in the other's presence.
Aurora jumps up, successfully startling Carmen, as an idea begins to form.
"I'll send Zach in here," she calls out absentmindedly, already pulling the door open. "Love you, Caramel, I'll see you soon."
Dashing back into the hallway, Aurora - as luck would have it - crashes directly into the exact person she was hoping to find.
