The next three weeks were the same. Charlotte was up in the morning before Nathan and everybody else for that matter. She worked in the fields with the workers and came home to dinner. Sometimes also for lunch. Nathan worked sometimes in his office and sometimes in the fields. Nathan hadn't forgotten what he saw that day between the cliffs; he just didn't let himself think about it. It must have been something in his mind.
He sat in his office. It was still morning, so the golden morning sun was shinning threw the window. Nathan was reading the answer from the neighbour farm when Charlotte came bursting in. "Nathan"! She yelled hysterical. Nathan stood up and ran over to her. "What's wrong"? He asked frightened. She looked up at him with a giant smile that lighted up Nathan entire world. "It's ready. The corn is ready" she laughed. Nathan couldn't help but laugh. "God you frightened me" he said. "You shouldn't be frightened you should be exited" she sang and jumped up and down. Sometimes she was like a little kid, even though she was twenty. "I am exited" he said and kissed her head. "Let's go. They are waiting. I told them that you should be there" Charlotte said and started pulling him threw the door. Nathan laughed and let her. They almost ran up to the cornfields. The workers all stood ready with the tools. "You should be the first mam" Agness said and gave Charlotte the seal. Charlotte looked happily up at her husband before she kneeled to the ground. "Are you ready? Our first harvest" she said. Nathan nodded. Then she cut the first axis. They all clapped and then they got to work. Everyone helped. Also the kids. Charlotte ran happy around helped where she could. Nathan took the axis and put then up together so they could dry. They continued like that all the day. All the workers were happy. It was a big day when you finally could harvest. They were all in good mood when they broke for the night. Charlotte held Nathan close the entire way home. She was so happy, but also very tired. When they walked past Agnes's house she didn't even looked inside. She was happy and she didn't want to spoil that right now. When they got home, Gwen was like always ready with the dinner. She stood in the door and welcomed them home. Charlotte took her cap of and helped Nathan out of his vest before they sat to dinner. It was Gwen's specialty: beef pie and it tasted delicious as always. They were both so happy. Everything went so well. Charlotte was just telling about something that Jack had done earlier, when Gwen came in. "The priest wants to talk with you" she said. Nathan got up. He kissed Charlottes head on the way out. The priest stood in the doorway. "Mr. Appleby" he said. Nathan nodded. "Do you want to come inside"? He asked. The priest nodded and came in. He closed the door behind him. "I need to talk to you" he said. Nathan nodded. "It's about you and you wife. I haven't seen you in the church yet" the priest said. "We haven't had the time" Nathan answered. The priest looked disapprovingly at him. "You can always find time for God" he said. Nathan didn't answer. "Mr. Appleby"? The priest asked confused. Nathan was looking at something behind him. He was all pale and his eyes were big. The priest turned to see what was behind him. "Mr. Appleby"? He asked again when he saw nothing. "Arthur" Nathan mumbled. "I'm sorry"? The priest said confused. Nathan didn't hear him. Behind the priest stood Arthur. He had his hunting clothes on. The brown vest over the grey shirt. He was looking directly at him. "Arthur" Nathan yelled. He pushed the priest away to get to him, but suddenly Arthur was gone. "Mr. Appleby what are you doing"? The priest asked. Nathan didn't answered. He couldn't understand. "Nathan" Charlotte called. She came in to the hall. He turned to her. "Charlotte he was here" he said with wild eyes. "Who was here"? Charlotte asked confused. "You can ask the priest he saw him too" Nathan said. He turned to the priest. "What. I did not see anything else but you" the priest said. Nathan looked at him. "What the hell are you playing at"? He asked now angry. He took a firm grip in his arms and shook him. "What are you playing at" he yelled at his face. The priest looked scared now. "Nathan" Charlotte yelled and pulled him away. "I'm sorry for my husband's behavior" she said to the priest. She looked angry and confused. The priest looked angrily at Nathan before storming out. "What was that" Charlotte asked. "It was him. He was here. I saw him. The priest saw him" Nathan said still with wild eyes. "Saw who"? Charlotte asked. "Arthur. I saw Arthur" Nathan yelled. Why couldn't she understand? "Who's Arthur"? She asked. "He's.." Nathan stopped him self. "He is... I mean, he was my friend. My best friend" he said with tears in his eyes. "Is he dead"? She asked. He nodded. "Then how could you see him"? She asked firm. "I... I don't know, but he was here and in the forest with you" Nathan yelled. Charlotte shook her head. "You are tired" she said. "No. You have to believe me. I saw him. There must be a scientific explanation" he yelled panicked. "Why should there be" she yelled back. "Because else I'm going mad" he whispered tears streaming down his face. Charlotte broke down her self. "Oh God" she whispered and walked past him into the living room. "You have to believe me. I don't know why the priest is lying, but he is" Nathan called after her. "You need to sleep" she said with glassy eyes. She didn't look at him. She went up the stairs to there bedroom. Nathan looked helpless after her. He sat himself in one of the comfortable chairs with his knees up under his chin. He knew that he looked like a child, but he did not care. He was afraid and confused. Why was Arthur hunting him?-----------------ooOoWoOoo--------------
