I opened my eyes to the sunlight streaming freely into the window. I brought my hand up to my eyes to shield them. I looked all around the room that I was in. I was laying in a large bed with a canopy over it. The sheets around me were cool and I felt like I could really see for the first time in a long while. I breathed in the fresh air and stretched. I didn't feel like I was in a haze any longer, and it was refreshing. I immediately looked down at my arm to see that the IV's were gone, and so were the marks from the needles. The good thing about being borne of werewolves was I was a quick healer, just like wolverine. "Good morning madam." Came a soft, yet authority filled French accent. I looked across the room to see a woman in a blue summer dress sitting in a red velvet upholstered high backed chair. "Good morning." I said and then looked outside. "Is it morning?" I asked, I had been in the hospital bed and room so long, with no windows that I had no concept of time. Hour ran into hour, day into day, and so on and so forth. "Certainly it is." She said and then stood, walking over to me with a tray. "I have brought your breakfast for you." The woman said and set the tray down in front of me.
I looked down at a yellow and white mass that sat on the gold rimmed china plate, a glass of white liquid and some dark brown and tanish squares cut diagonally. "What's this?" I asked looking up at her for an answer. "You can't honestly tell me you've never had milk, scrambled eggs, and toast before." She said acting in disbelief. "I probably have, but I've been in that hospital bed for, what seems like a century that I don't remember what food is." I answered honestly, but took a bite and then moaned and closed my eyes in happiness. "Yummm." I moaned again chewing carefully as if the taste of this food would soon be forgotten. "It's wonderful." I said gratefully as she took the plate away when I was finished. "It's not a master piece, but your thanks is appreciated." She said and nodded. "Madam, come along. We must get you bathed and dressed." She said and helped me up. "Might I know your name?" I asked walking awkwardly with her. For her size, one would not know, but she was strong to be able to help in supporting me. "Yvette." She answered and kept walking until we had reached the bathroom.
Upon returning from the bathroom, I was now again completely exhausted, but felt refreshed. No doubt my parents were going insane because I was no longer in the care of the hospital. I was dressed in some black dress slacks and a white button down shirt. My dark blonde hair had been put into soft waves that surrounded my sunflower designed green and brown eyes. I sighed happily as I was assisted into a wheel chair. It was an old fashioned one, that didn't have the handles, and had to be directed by someone holding onto the back rest and pushing it that way. I jumped slightly when I heard a familiar Russian behind me. "So, you're awake!" He bellowed. I looked up and smiled. "Yes, finally. I've come out of my daze." I said and chuckled slightly. "The Master wishes to visit with you." He said pushing me along gently. "Might I know your name?" I asked looking back at him. "I am Viktor Ergov." He said. "Typical Russian name." I said nodding and still smiling to myself.
We walked down the large and long stone corridors until we finally arrived outside of some very important looking mahogany doors with crystal door knobs. Viktor knocked silently and then opened the door and guided me in and then left me sitting there in front of a large wooden desk with various things on it. I sat there with my hands folded in my lap. Silence was my only friend while I sat in the large dark room. Only a small beckon of light trailed in from a window in the corner, and it landed directly on me. I jumped when I heard his voice. It sent shivers down my spine. "Welcome to my home dear one." He said, his voice was deep and rich. I'd always had a thing for men with deep voices. "My voice brings you pleasure does it not?" He asked reading my thoughts.
There was no sense in lying about the satisfaction I got from hearing his voice. "Yes, it does." I answered and realized how tightly I was clasping my hands together. "Well, as much as I would like to talk about my voice all day, I simply cannot. Now, I am sure you are wondering why I have brought you here." He said, I was unable to see his face as he sat behind his desk. "Naturally." I said arching an eyebrow ever so slightly and smiling. "Part of the reason is your smile; the other part is due to natural selection." He said chuckling. I reached up and scratched my chin with the back of my hand. "Natural selection." I said my tongue moving so gracefully over the two words carefully. "I assume you know what I am." I said sighing dejectedly. "I certainly do...we, certainly do." He said rethinking the last part of his sentence.
