Soon we were going through the gardens. There was a large expanse of open grass and a green house in the far distance. "What's in there?" I asked pointing to the large green house. "That's where the wolves are housed." Yvette said and then shook her head. "I don't suppose it's going to be any use to try and change your mind about visiting." She said and then began pushing me towards the green house. I was excited and nervous at the same time. The only werewolves I'd been around were my parents. I had no idea how to act. When we reached the doors of the green house Yvette leaned down and spoke softly. "These are the wolves of the old. As you've already read I am sure, they are unable to change into human form and they will attack if threatened. Just trying and use non-challenging and threatening hand gestures, voices, and body language and you'll be fine. I'll wait for you out here." She said and opened the door for me so I could wheel myself in.

The green house was breath taking and I couldn't stop myself from staring. The green house was huge. A large section was covered with grass, there were large trees in here that were extremely dense and had there not been a path then there would have been no way deeper into the green house. There were several fountains all over, I was certain as a drinking source for the wolves. As I looked around I heard something behind me and turned quickly, only to find myself staring into the emerald green eyes of a large gray and white wolf. He sniffed at me, his snout coming to my neck, seeing as I was in a chair. I'd always been an animal lover, I even used to pretend that I was an animal when I was younger. I watched the wolf carefully as he sniffed around me, trying to get a sense for me. Suddenly he pulled his head back as if he'd smelt something foul.

He raised one of the corners of his upper lip in a snarl and growled at me. "Now you!" I snapped at him, to which he yelped and pinned his ears, looking sorry. "I haven't done anything to you. Come here." I said pointing to the space in front of me. He looked around as if he was looking for help and then slowly came over to me, his head down and ears pinned, constantly blinking like I was going to beat him. I reached out and caressed the fur behind his ears. I gently massaged his ears and scratched behind them. My hands slowly moved down underneath of his jaw and I watched as his right back paw went into a frenzy. I smiled and squished the wolf's face. "You're so cute." I said in a baby voice and then went on patting the wolf gently. I was suddenly surrounded by wolves of many different sizes and colors. But all of them seemed friendly enough.

I knew all of them could understand me; they were all humans once too. I sat there and played with them for a good long while and then they all sat down expecting something. I smiled as I remembered the story of Peter and the Wolf. I began reciting it making big hand gestures, like I was telling the story to a bunch of children. The wolves sat and watched me, tongues hanging loosely from their mouths. They all watched with interest as I recited the story. As I was coming to a close on the story I watched the hackles on the gray wolf raise and a snarl emit from his throat. I turned to see Mister Unknown come in. "What are you doing out here?" He asked. I smiled and motioned to the wolves. "I'm just chatting with them." I answered. "Dinner was over an hour ago and I wasn't sure where you had gone. I then saw Yvette out here and was concerned slightly." He said, a smile pulling at the corner of his mouth.

I looked up I had failed to notice that it was indeed night, and the stars had come out. "I honestly didn't realize what time it was." I said and then awkwardly stood up holding onto the rescuer for support. "I realize it's been some time since you've been able to move about freely, but sitting in the chair won't help you." He said assisting me with walking. "I know I just need more practice. All this aside though, what do you want with me?" I asked glancing up at him. "I need you as a personal guard. I want you as personal security. The wolves need someone to listen too. They serve as more than just pets. They are put to use and do a wonderful job of guarding us when we sleep." He said assisting me up some stairs and into the large manor. "Why would you choose me? I'm sure there are plenty of other guardians out there that would be delighted to provide service to you." I said and shrugged. "Aren't there more than just one guardian?" I asked and was then surprised when he stopped walking and looked at me in surprise. "You didn't finish reading did you?" He asked. I shook my head rather sheepishly and brought my right index finger up to my mouth. "There only is one guardian born every hundred years. As soon as I saw you, I knew what talents you possessed and I wanted them. I've never wanted anything more." He said and then pushed me up against the wall. I felt my heart rate soar as he did this. This man was handsome yes, but I didn't know a thing about him. "Would you be terribly opposed if I bit you?" He asked, his thumb caressing the hollow of my neck. My eyes rolled into the back of my head and I nodded.

I shivered slightly as I felt his warm breath at the nape of my neck and then shivered once again as he kissed my neck gently. I moaned slightly as I felt his fangs penetrate the soft skin on my neck. The feeling was positively euphoric. I allowed my eyes to close and was unsure of when it had stopped. The feeling had been amazing; it felt like I was floating on a cloud. When I finally opened my eyes, they felt heavy. He had released me and was licking the blood from my neck away. "Exactly what I expected," He said sighing longingly, while holding onto me, making sure I didn't fall. "I-I think I need to go to bed." I said blinking my eyes slowly. "I think that is a very wise choice." He said assisting me to my room. Never had sleep been so welcomed in my life, especially after all the 'rest' I'd gotten over the past few years. I lay down on my bed, not bothering to crawl under the covers and I fell into a deep sleep.

I woke the next morning to Yvette setting my breakfast tray down on the sitting table in my room. "Good morning madam, you look better than yesterday." She said and curtsied before leaving the room. I got up and crossed over to the table and took a seat. I began mulling over what had happened last night. I sat with a piece of toast in my hand and I thought about what life was going to be like without the parents. Without someone else's rules. Sure I would have to protect other living things, but I would be free. I thought about this, and in the time I realized that I had been truly thinking about it when I looked down at my plate and realized that I had eaten everything on it, with the exception of the toast that was still in her hand. I set the toast down and brushed my hands off with one another and then stood up stretching. I was able to move more freely today than I was yesterday. My legs were still weak, but I was able to move about. I quickly got ready I so desperately wanted to see the wolves again.
