I paced the halls of the manor and was trying to collect my thoughts. I was a guardian and now I was pregnant with Christian’s child. How was I ever going to tell him? I found myself staring at a large portrait of Alexandria. It almost seemed like she was becoming the holy mother to me. Although I’d never really been religious, I’d seen movies though and sometimes I just wondered about things in the great universe. I began walking again and thinking. Ah…maybe I should take a pregnancy test just to be sure. I tapped my index finger to my chin and I rushed towards the garage. I reached it in a matter of seconds and looked at the butler. “I just need to run into town. I need the limo.” I said as the driver rushed to open the door for me. I climbed inside and proceeded to try and relax as we rushed into town. I calmly walked into the small foodmart and walked back to the pharmacy. I walked to the man standing at the counter. “May I help you miss?” He asked eyeballing my attire. I was still wearing my jeans and shirt from the night before and I looked worse for wear. “Yes, I need an EPT.” I whispered and looked around all paranoid like, as if I were being followed. The man looked at me suspiciously and pointed to some shelving to the side of the register. “There you are.” He said, which I walked over and snatched the small purple and white box and handed it to him. “Is that going to be all?” He asked, his suspicion melting away into boredom. “Yes, that’s it.” I said. “Cash or charge?” He asked. “Actually I have a tab.” I said and gave him Christian’s name and he had no problem putting the information down. I took the bag the box was in and practically ran out of the store receiving some inquisitive looks from clerks and shelvers and small amount of customers.
Upon arriving back at the manor I immediately went to my bathroom and proceeded to do my business and use the pregnancy test. The next few minutes were agonizing and I caressed my stomach as I waited for the outcome. What seemed like forever finally the test was ready, and it confirmed my worst fears. I was indeed pregnant. I stared down at the little blue line that just stared straight back at me. I wanted it to change, I wanted to not worry about having a child at such a young age, especially with a man whose wife was still technically alive. Was this how a mistress felt when she found out she was pregnant? Helpless and frightened? Sighing I wrapped the EPT in some toilet paper and threw it away. I then carefully hit the remaining EPT’s under the sink and behind some cleaning supplies. I looked at my pale complexion in the mirror and lifted up the lower half of my shirt and looked at my protruding stomach. “Well, one thing is for sure, at least the pregnancy won’t be too long.” I muttered and crossed my arms over my chest, while tapping my foot. Finally deciding on a shower I took my sweet time as I groomed every inch of my body, my aches and pains seeming to be relieved by the hot water. When I was done I dressed in a pair of sweat bottoms and a t-shirt. I just wanted to relax and not go out, but first I needed to talk to Christian about our expected bundle of joy.
I stopped in front of Christian’s door and knocked on it. I heard him sleepily tell me to come in. I slid inside and leaned against the door. Christian’s hair was everywhere, but he looked so cute. I knew he knew something was wrong by the way I looked. “Come here.” He asked softly beckoning me to him. I walked over and sat on the bed next to him. “What’s the matter?” He asked brushing my hair back off one of my shoulders. “Christian. I don’t know how to tell you this. I’m pregnant.” I said wincing expecting his reaction to be angry. “Well that makes sense.” He said and leaned down to kiss me on the cheek. “What makes sense?” I asked confused. “Why I haven’t been able to think straight and why I’ve only had my mind on the dirty when I’m around you.” He said. “Still not following.” I said looking up and beginning to be relieved that he wasn’t angry. “Eliza, you’re part werewolf, even though you are a guardian, you’re still part werewolf and whenever you’re in heat well…you’re part vampire and part werewolf and basically you make either species feel…the need.” He said shrugging and giving a half smile. “You would drive any one wild. Darling, I’m glad you are pregnant.” He said and then pulled me close once again and made me love him even more.
