Everything was gray-- his smoke, his dreams, his clothes.
Every day started bad and every day ended bleak with no real encouragement to see another one.
He never understood how she did it.
She was the opposite of him-- bright, colorful, happy. She was his favorite conundrum with no explanation. Just being in the same room as her made his day a little less dark. Sometimes, the bright color of her eyes would stop him, both sides meeting through a glance that was shyly averted and then never thought of again.
But he thought of it. He remembered every one.
