A month later, Kyle and Celeste were practically an item. They did almost everything together, and Celeste actually started coming to church on a regular basis. She still wasn't sire how she felt about the whole God thing and following something you can't see or hear. But, if Kyle and Sam put their whole mind into this, it must be important.
Kyle had spent the entire day, in her dad's office, and she had no idea what they were talking about. A few weeks earlier, Kyle had asked her father's permission to date her, and they hadn't received an answer yet. The wait was literally, unbearable. They had waited for almost forever, and it didn't help that Kyle was great at keeping secrets. She paced back and forth while her little sister rolled her eyes and made snide comments.
After about two hours, Kyle emerged, and Celeste jumped up to ask what they talked about. He looked sullen, and shrugged. In an almost invisible voice, he asked. "Would you take a walk with me?" Her heart dropped as she nodded, and then raced in excitement as Kyle smiled at her mother, and shook hands with her father. He pulled on a sweatshirt, and they walked down the walkay and into the street.
"What's wrong, Kyle?" She asked, and he looked at her calmly, before smiling.
"Have I ever told you that you're gorgeous?" She shook her head. "Well, you are." She smiled and blushed. "Well, I guess, you want to know what we talked about, right?"
"Yeah." She said with a hopeful smile on her face. He smiled a bit, and went back to praising her, "You know, I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this, but you are out of my league. Way out." She started laughing, and he smiled some more. "I'm serious though. Like, I could graduate from a thousand leagues, and you would still not be in mine. It's kinda not fair, if you think about it. Anyway, um, I'm not sure why you like me. I man, I"m not a jock, and I don't really do well with people, but." He stopped her and met her eyes. He took a deep breath. "I would be honored to be your boyfriend. He said yes."
The last sentence was drowned by her scream of joy. She jumped into his arms, and he spun her around. It seemed that the were meant to be together. And maybe, God, maybe You're right.
Kyle went home that night and thought about his vision, or whatever it was. Maybe God was right. aybe they were destined for each other. But only time would tell. Still, it would be a cool dream. He prayed for his new girlfriend, his first girlfriend. He laughed at the thought of actually being able to call her his. He looked at the ceiling, and whispered, quietly, "Thank you, God."
Celeste was ecstatic as she got into bed that night. He was SO, different, and it made him that much better. He wasn't like any guy she had ever been with. She got out her phone, and put their anniversary in her calender, smiling as she fell asleep to the hum of the heater next to her bed. She didn't see her father check on her, amazed at what the guy had done. He remembered what Kyle replied, almost immediately after he had said his big statement.
"The thing is, Kyle. I hate had to see my girl go after so many guys, and they're good at first, but I'm tired of seeing guys walk all over her."
Well, sir. You won't have to watch anymore." Kyle had replied.
"She's very special-"
"Yes she is." Not that cutting hi off was right, but Kyle was in a hurry to prove himself.
"Well, I trust you. You have my blessing. And I hope you prove me wrong. Don't make me regret my decision." They shook hands, and got up.
"Thank you sir. And I will prove you wrong."
"I sure hope so."
Celeste's father went to bed, thinking that this time, the guy meant it.
