It's been about a week since I've learned Steven and I are related, that I do have a dad when I never thought I did. I've been avoiding Sour Cream and my mom. I'm never really in the house. I'm mostly at either Stevens place, or at the car wash. There, Mr. Universe and I don't really talk, we just, sit there. At first it was an awkward silence, now we just enjoy it for what it is. At Stevens, I've learned about the Crystal Gems, where the come from, how they got here. Though, every time I ask about Jasper they just stay quiet. Then they move on and change the subject before I have another chance to ask. Amethyst is still kinda.. weird around me, I usually see her cheeful, with snarky remarks, always annoying Pearl, but around me, she's just quiet. Only talks to me if she needs to, even then it's not much of a response. I'm starring to wonder, does she blame herself? That the reason I was a secret was because of her? "Y/n?" I blinked and shook my head looking at Steven, his gaze filled with curiosity. "You ok? You seem out of it today." I sighed "I'm just thinking, all of this sudden change is a lot to take in." He nodded "I understand, I grew up with this, you're learning." I smiled thankfully at him. "Uhm.. actually.. Could you explain how my gem works?" I asked lifting up my shirt revealing the pink colored gem on my stomach. "Has it started glowing?" He asked. "It's glown a few times before I came to beach city. I've freaked out and hid it. What does it do?" I asked looking at him. He stayed slient for a bit, then the warp pad illuminated and the Crystal gems entered, Pearl and Amethyst bickering as usual. "Pearl! Garnet! Amethyst!" Steven excitedly got up and grabbed Pearls wrist dragging her over to me. I sat up and blushed a bit, I still wasn't used to attention and such. "The Crystal Gems are the best teachers. Y/n wants to know about her gem." He explained. Pearl looked at the two before looking back at me. "Well... Alright, I suppose. Do you think she even has powers?" She asked Garnet. "I don't want to say either yes or no, we didn't know it was possible that gems could even produce one gem half human, let alone two." I felt like a science experiment gone wrong. "I just want to know why it's there, what it does." Pearl smiled wnd explained how it was a gems source of life, that a gems physical body was just an illusion. That the gem held their weapons, how each gem had a different weapon. Pearl has her spear, Garnet has her gauntlets, Amethyst had her whips, and Steven had his shield. "So then, if I'm related to Steven, does that mean we have the same weapon?" I asked. "Well, We don't know, lets just focus on seeing if it will glow." I looked at them, and they all looked at me. "Ok... How do I do that?" I asked. "Well, when I first started, it was based on my emotion.Maybe it'll work for you." Steven explained with a small smile. I thought about the last time the gem glowed, on the last day of school. Where everyone had friends to miss and say goodbye to. A small glow appeared, I looked down to see my gem glowing. Out of habit I freaked out and hid it. "Y/n." Amethyst whined earning an elbow from Pearl. "Sorry, force of habit." I blushed feeling embarrassed. "It's ok, do you know what you did to make that happen?" Garnet asked. "I just.... Remembered.... School." I mumbled. "Oh! So then you miss home, like friends and stuff. Emotions!" Steven yelled excitedly. ' Friends... I wouldn't say that.' I looked up at them, the Crystal gems seemed proud of my accomplishment, I had so many mixed emotions swirling around me. ' Just be positive Y/n. There are people that believe in you.' The Crystal gems and Steven all celebrating. ' Well.. gems, gems believe in you. Though, they seem more human if anything, they have.. hearts.' I smiled at the four, it was nice. Being around the Crystal gems, it made me happier. I've never felt this happy around others before. There was something I couldn't quite name, whatever it was, made me feel almost... Complete.
