PASSIONATE FIRE || JUSTS SIRMAIS
"The key to a successful date, is preparation."
"Are you going to tell me your secret now, Justs?" I interrupt him,
We walk down the city streets, dangerously close to one another. Justs had taken me into town, showing me around the for me unfamiliar city.
I was almost sure he hadn't been here before either, yet it seemed like he knew every corner of every street. He knew where to find all the right places.
Preparation was the key. He had said, and so far it seemed like he had gotten that right.
"I'm not telling you any secrets, it's common sense." He laughs, and shrugs his shoulders.
"Whatever you say." I chuckle.
"I'm serious. Would you date someone who never took the time to think about it and didn't think it was important enough to spend time on it?" He asks me seriously.
"Would be refreshing." I say, considering it.
"You've got to be kidding me." He mumbles, and I burst out laughing. I see him crack a smile as well, even if he was trying to hide it from me.
Suddenly, he grabs my hand. I'll have to admit, I was a little taken back.
I look at him, yet he doesn't look back and instead just holds my hand tightly.
After that, I just give in and enjoy the moment. His hand feels warm and fits perfectly in mine.
Justs softly tugs at my hand. I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed that he wanted to cross the street.
I feel my cheeks heat up, and I was sure they turned pink. Justs seemed to notice, as his hand let go of mine and he wrapped an arm around my shoulder.
I tried to look away, but it was no use anymore.
We walked into small café, and took a seat at one of the tables far in the back. A waitress had already noticed us, and she began approaching us.
"What can I get you two?" She asks sweetly, and I immediately wonder if that was real or if that was just her job voice.
For some reason I always wonder. Maybe it was because I worked at small dining room myself, or maybe it was just my curiosity.
I realise I zoned out again when both Justs and the waitress are looking at me expectantly. "Oh I'll just have a coffee, please." I tell her, and smile.
She walks away, leaving me and Justs on our own again. There weren't many people in the café, but I liked it that way.
"Sometimes I wonder what goes on in that mind of yours." Justs says.
"You wouldn't want to know." I assure him, "Not that it makes any sense anyway."
"I'm still curious." He tells me, but before we can continue on the subject, the waitress bring us our orders.
I thank her, and she smiles again before walking off.
I take the opportunity to change the subject, "So, tell me more about you." I say, "I mean, more like basic stuff. For some reason I feel like I don't know anything about you."
He chuckles, "What exactly do you want to know?"
"I don't know. Anything." I say and shrug my shoulders.
"That wasn't helpful at all." He laughs, "but alright. I suppose I can tell you that besides singing, I love skateboarding although you probably already knew that." He says sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck.
"That's the thing. Tell me something I don't know."
"Okay," he starts, and thinks about it. "Promise me not to laugh."
"I promise."
He leans closer to me, "My favourite website is Perezhilton.com. I literally go on there every day just to check."
I try to hold in my laugh, but when I look at him I can't help but lose it.
"You promised." He says, but then joins in laughing too.
"I'm so sorry." I manage to get out in between laughing.
"Sure you are." He says once we've both calmed down, and winks at me.
We had been so busy with each other that both our drinks had probably turned cold already.
I didn't mind though.
With him, I'd had the most fun I'd in a really long time.
And I was very grateful for that.
After we both finish our drinks, we decide to go back.
Justs walks me back to my hotel. He grabs my hand once again, and I let him.
It feels just as good as it did earlier this evening.
The sun had gone down, but not completely yet, leaving us staring at the sunset.
We continue to make our way to the hotel, and with every step we took I more and more didn't want this to end yet.
He walks with me to my room. Once we get there, we just stand there awkwardly, neither of us knowing what to do.
So I decide to take the initiative and quickly wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug. It doesn't take him long to react, as he wraps his arms around my waist, squeezing me closer to him.
We pull back after what felt like only seconds, when in reality we were standing there for probably a few minutes. Just enjoying each other's presence.
I kiss his cheek, and he seems surprised.
Not wanting to deal with his smug smile that was undoubtedly playing on his lips, I open the hotel door, "Bye."
"Bye." He says, yet neither of us go.
Eventually, I go inside and close the door behind me.
Where this day had supposed to make things clearer for me, all it did was confuse me even more.
