The First

[Amber's POV]

I called the ambulance like Fabian told me to. The phone rang for 20 seconds before someone actually picked up.

"Hello, is this the hospital? I need an ambulance at Anubis House right now!"

I hung up after I gave some other info and looked at Fabian and Nina. Nina was gasping for air every 3 seconds while Fabian tried his hardest to calm her down. I went to Victor's crummy old office to tell him what happened.

[Fabian's POV]

"Nina, can you hear me?"

I pushed back a few hairs from my beautiful light brown-haired girl. She calmed down a little but didn't notice anything or anyone.

"Nina, it's me, Fabian. Can you hear me?"

There was still no response from her which worried me deeply. Normally, if she was in a vision or a bad dream, we could wake her up easily, this was very hard to work around. Trudy came in quickly.

"Fabian, the ambulance is here for Nina. Would you like to go with me?"

I nodded my head while squeezing Nina's hand. They loaded her in while Trudy and I drove in a cab to the hospital. The doctors had placed Nina in a room to run some tests. Later, a nurse with red hair that was pulled into a bun came to the freezing lobby.

"Mr. Rutter, your girlfriend is in room 222 if you want to see her."

I glanced over at Trudy who gave me a nod to go see Nina. I thanked the doctor and hurried off. I didn't knock because I was very worried about Nina. I slid in to see her drinking water and sitting up.

"Fabian?"

I ran over to her and hugged her. Her arms were so warm like a fire's.

"Nina, I'm glad you're ok. You scared Amber and I."

Nina looked at me nervously.

"They told me I went into shock for half an hour."

I nodded at her and squeezed her hand. Then, I noticed something on her arm.

"What's this?"

"I don't know," she shrugged. I read the words that formed down her arm:

For 3 days, you will become ill. No one will be able to help you. For 3 days you will be weak and for 3 days, almost dead.

I jumped up as I read the last part in my head. Nina touched my hand.

"Fabian, what is it?"

"I don't know."

[Nina's POV]

I was released from the hospital 2 days later. I felt dizzy but I was sure it was just a mild headache from the painkillers the doctors gave me.

"Fabian, can I go to my room?"

"Of course, Nina. You'll need plenty of rest."

He guided me upstairs as I rolled my eyes. Fabian was sweet at times, but sometimes, he can be a drama queen. He laid me on my bed and gave me a kiss.

"Fabian, can you stay with me tonight?"

He smiled at the idea.

"Of course, Nina. I'm always here for you."

It was 10:00 when Victor made his rounds. Fabian got me a glass of water because he said I looked pale.

"Nina, are you feeling ok?"

"Yeah, why?"

"You look like you need sleep."

I kissed his cheek.

"I'll be fine."

We both fell asleep soundly that night.

[Fabian's POV]

I woke up at 7. Today, I was skipping school to take care of Nina because of what happened 3 days ago. I looked up to see her looking pale. Really pale. She had spots around her eyes. I felt her hands, they were freezing like ice.

"Nina, you're pale!"

She stirred a little bit. She could barely open her eyes. I looked at Nina's arm and remembered the words that were written upon her.

"No, Nina!"

I started crying as she laid there helpless. What was I going to do without my Chosen One?
