Hermione (two hours later)

I slowly woke in a comfy bed. I fought to open my eyes, but when I did, Draco instantly noticed.

"Love, are you-"

My eyes shut and I passed out.

"Is it safe to move them that far?" I heard Draco ask.

"I would send my best healers with you on the trip, but have them come back when you get there," someone replied.

"But is it safe to move them that far?" Draco asked again.

"I'm not sure, Mr Malfoy, perhaps it would be better to let Ms Granger heal for a few days," the other person mumbled.

"Draco?" I groaned.

He was by my side in seconds. I opened my eyes when he pushed the hair out of my face. I saw him and a healer.

"Ugh, I can't feel my body," I mumbled.

"I know, Love, it's okay. Everything's okay," he assured me.

I brought a shaky hand to his cheek. It was wet.

"Why are you crying?" I questioned, trying to sit up.

"Mr Malfoy, I'll be in the hall," the healer cut in, leaving the room.

"I'm just a little stressed, Hermione, nothing to worry about," he stated.

"I don't feel good," I mumbled, closing my eyes.

"I know, it'll all be better soon," he murmured, kissing my cheek.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you more," he whispered back.

I fell asleep again.

~*~*~

I felt a sharp pain in my arm, so my eyes snapped open. I saw a healer holding a syringe.

"What are you-"

He walked away.

"Hey! What's going on?!" I called.

No one answered. I moved to get up and pulled the blanket off me. I froze, and I screamed as loud as I possibly could.

Half my left leg wasn't there.

Half... Wasn't... There.

Three people came into the room: Draco and two healers. Draco was by my side in half a second.

I didn't know what to do. I buried my face in Draco's neck and tried to breathe. I heard him snarl.

"Back off!" Draco snarled at the healers.

"Mr Malfoy-"

"Just bloody sod off! She's hurting!" He growled.

"She's in shock. She needs care," the other healer stated.

I forced air into my lungs, so I could talk to Draco.

"Draco, what happened to me?!" I choked.

"Hold on one second, Love," he mumbled, moving away from me.

I stared at my leg. What happened? Where was the rest? Why is it gone?

I felt a hand brush my arm, but I didn't move.

"Hermione," Draco murmured, lightly pulling me into his lap.

"What happened?" I asked with wide eyes.

"You had a fatal infection. It would have killed you if they didn't remove your leg," he told me.

"B...b..but... There has to be a different... I don't understand... Why did they... But..." I stammered, trying to find some other explanation.

Draco tried to calm me. His hands stroked my cheeks as he wiped endless tears off them.

"It's okay, Hermione. Everything will be okay. We'll move to New York and get Rose a heart, and we can get you a prosthetic, so you can still walk. Everything will be fine," he told me.

Just hearing his words forced sobs passed my lips. Draco pulled me close, so I buried my face in his neck and let it out.

I suddenly couldn't breathe. All oxygen left me.

"Hermione! Hermione, breathe!" Draco shouted.

Black dots filled my tear blurred vision. I heard the door open just as everything went black.
