Heart- Sequel to Broken

-Draco's POV-

The little boy died early this morning and the doctor is trying to explain to us what is going to happen but the words were falling on deaf ears. My baby girl is going to finally have a heart. Hermione is trying to follow along with what the doctor is saying but I simply can't focus. She's trying her hardest to listen, she's tired and sore from trying to walk. The doctors got her a temporary prosthetic until they can finish her custom one. I just continue to rub her arm comfortingly.

"We're going to start the procedure immediately." the doctor concluded, smiling gently at us.

Hermione leaned forward and grabbed the doctor's hand, "Thank you." She nods at both of us and leaves. As soon as the door closes, Hermione starts crying.

"Hey. Hey, honey whats wrong?"

She sniffles and clings to my chest and whispers, "Nothing. I'm just so happy. Our baby is going to have a heart. A good heart."

I smile down at her, "Hey, crying is for when you're sad. Smile. Show me the smile that I fell in love with."

She laughs lightly as she looks up to meet my eyes, "You love my smile?"

"Of course, love. I love everything about you."She smiles and looks back down, placing her head carefully on my chest. Her breathing became slower as she fell asleep. When I was sure she was asleep I carefully picked her up and layed her down onto the hospital bed and slipped out of the room.
