Chapter 9

“So, I’ll repeat this again;” I say. “Who are you?”

The teenager sighs. “You know, I use to always be like you when I was your age.” She says. Her voice was familiar.

“But aren’t you my age now?” I asked confused.

“No, sweetheart, I’m actually 1,000 years old.”

“And you talking to me because…?” I ask while trailing off so she can answer.

“Because I would like to help you get rid of your curse!” She yells.

                “Okay, then… Who are you?!”

                “I’m your ancestor!”

“That doesn’t answer my question!” Pffft, yea right. As if she’s 1,000 years old and is my ancestor.”

‘You know, I can read your mind.’ I heard a voice say in my mind. It sounded like the teenager’s voice. That’s the voice that always talks to me. (Refer to the end of chapter 3.) What the hell? This chic can read my mind?! ‘Yes, I can.’ The voice says again.

“How do you do that? Are you a witch?” I ask.

“Yes, I am. I’m a ghost and I’ve been watching you ever since birth.” She says. Wow, for that long? Creep. “I am not a creep.” Okay, note to self; watch out at what I’m saying. Great, my privacy even in my mind has been invaded.

“Okay…” I say. “So, you’re dead, right?” She nods. “And you’ve been haunting me ever since birth?” She nods again. Um, I think I’m hallucinating. Maybe I didn’t get enough sleep last night?

“You’re not hallucinating and you always go to bed that late.” Then, I heard her mutter, “Crazy generations, and crazy kids.”

I sighed. “If you were haunting me for a long time, how come I’ve never noticed you and why show yourself now?”

“Because I’m a ghost and I am showing myself today because once you find your mates, your curse activates automatically.”

                “Curse?”

“Yes, and can you talk into your mind now, because nobody can see me. I’ll explain you everything, okay? Then, you can ask 20 questions.” I slightly nodded not questioning why she can’t be seen. Well, I wouldn’t want to sound stupid. It’s because she’s a ghost, duh. We went back to the apartment silently and I came up with thousands of questions. I could hear her groan inside of her mind. So, I can hear her thoughts, too? When we got back, Chase and Xavier ran up to me like little children and shoved each other out of their way.

“Where did you go?” They both asked simultaneously again. Now, that was getting kind of creepy for some reason.

“Nowhere.” I replied back apathetically and quickly changed the subject. “Hey, can you see anybody next to me?” I ask pointing at the teenager. They shook their heads. “Okay, then. I’m going to my room. Don’t bother me.” So, I go back to my bedroom and locked it. I sit on my bed with my legs crossed and stared at the teen. ‘If you’re a ghost, how come I’m the only person who can see you?’ I think just to try it out.
