Chapter 2 - Summer Plans

I sat in my room, staring at my science study guide while face timing my friend Sadie. "What can a temperature verses time graph show you?" She read aloud. "The number of plateaus show how many pure substances there are and the temperature where the plateau happens shows the boiling poi-" I began to say, but was cut off be my mom calling me. "I'll be right back Sadie" I told her and ran downstairs. "You called?" I asked. "Yes" my mom said and beckoned me to sit down. "So, your father and I have talked about it and we don't want another summer of you and your brother sitting on your phones, so we decided to rent a beach house" she said. My heart immediately sunk. How was I going to be able to spend time with Sadie this summer? "Don't worry" my mom began, "you can bring a friend. Noah is bringing Finn". "She doesn't use any friends" Noah yelled from the living room. "I do too" I say. "Yeah, one" he says in an annoying tone. "I'd rather have one good friend than three stupid ones" I yell back. My mom looks at me and says, "I'm assuming you are going to bring Sadie?". "Yeah, I'll go ask her if she can come now" I reply and run back up the stairs. I then tell Sadie about everything and she tells me that she can come! Maybe this summer won't be so bad after all.
A/n: sorry that this is substantially shorter than the first chapter. I'm pretty busy with school, but will be able to write more once school ends.
