Chapter 3 - The Drive

I sat in my room, packing my suitcase for the beach house. School got out two days ago, and I've been bored out of my mind ever since. Not that I want to go back though. I'd rather be bored and at home than anything at school. I put my last pair of shorts in and zipper my suitcase. Before I can begin to carry it down the stairs, my annoying brother Noah interrupts by saying, "Oh my god hurry up Millie!". I quickly run down stairs with my suitcase and out it in the car. As the engines starts, I out my headphones on and click my playlist entitled "summer". 'Here we go' I thought to myself as we pulled out of the drive way. First stop, Finn's house. It's going to be really awkward sitting in the back with him for a few minutes before Sadie arrives. I sigh and look out the window as we pull away from our street. After about 7 minutes of driving, we pull into the driveway, and a very excited Finn takes a seat next to me in the car. He smiled at me and I smile in return. I then go back to listening to my music when I feel someone tapping me on the shoulder. I look up from my phone and Finn asks, "what are you listening to?". "Oh uh just some Mac Demarco" I say awkwardly. "Oh yeah his music is awesome" Finn says with a small smile. We then look away from each other and go back to our own things. I feel my cheeks heating up, but why? There is no reason to be blushing right now. Unless... No, no, I definitely do NOT like Finn. I pushed that thought out of my mind as we pulled into Sadie's driveway. "Hey Sadie" I said with a warm smile as she opened the car door. "Hey Mills" she replies, smiling as well. We then begin talking and the awkwardness of sitting next to Finn goes away. We end up in a group conversation with me, Sadie, Noah, and Finn. Surprising... maybe this summer won't be so bad after all.
