All in all, my entire Thursday was spent calculating how much money can I spare for the dress and accessories. I can't and won't bother Mama or Dad to send me money for such a trivial thing. This event is not that important. I looked at the dresses I packed when I was leaving home. There is no elegant one; I left it all back at home.

Uuuurrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

I should have kept some. - Me.

When have you done anything remotely sensible. - Brain snorting at me.

You could have advised me to keep one. - Me retorting back.

Like you would have listened. - Brain.

With this money, I won't be able to get any good dresses from any of the brands Char or Anna mentions. I'll have to find some good thrift store and I've to find a job, and soon.

I was in the middle of having dinner when a knock sounded on the front door.

Who could be here at this time?

Opening the front door, Karen was standing there with a smug look, and I replied back with my confused one.

What is she doing here at this time.

"Everything ok, Karen? Is Hailey, okay?" I said, worriedly looking around for her.

"Hailey is at school. I thought I was your friend." She said feigning hurt.

"What sort of statement is this, Karen. You are my friend. No, scratch that; you're my sister." I said, pulling her into a hug.

She reminds me of home.

"So, why am I still unaware of certain Party you're to attend on this Saturday." She accused me of still hugging me back with emotions I know she don't part many with. Karen is a mystery, and I don't poke her to tell me.

She will, in due course. - Brain.

"I was going to tell you tomorrow. Today I was busy with money calculations and all. I told bobby about it because I need a date for that certain party." I said honestly.

"So, did you find the dress? Have you decided which shop are we going tomorrow?" she asked excitedly.

This question makes embarrassed. What should I say to her. Maybe, she picked up my face fall face or the quiet that follows because she said:

"I know you didn't. Bobby told me everything." she said quietly.

"Can't that old man keep his big trap shut! Gosh." I said look up at ceiling and closing my eyes exasperatedly.

Karen moved towards the lounge and sat on the sofa.

"He is not supposed to. You're my sister and to him, you're like his daughter, Mary. We both love you a lot; when will you accept is." she said, taking my hand in her.
