That sun is so warm. If it wasn't for Finley the house and gardens would almost be worth going through with the marriage, which I am now determined not to do. I'm lying on a chair in the sun room because outside it's just a bit too cold, unfortunately you can't get a tan in here.
Finley had gone out after the 'incident' and left me in this house. It really is nice but there's only so much you can do in a strangers house. I'd eaten breakfast, watched the TV, eaten lunch, then came out here. It's so nice out here but I'm getting bored and I'm starting to think that maybe I did take the hair-removal thing a bit far, even if he did deserve it.
*Bring, Bring*
The landline on the cabinet against the wall rang making the crockery on it shake. I tried to ignore it but I could swear I was a bit OCD because I hate leaving a phone ringing. Also, I am engaged to Finley whether I like it or not so I have a right to answer the phone, right?
"Hello. The...um... Boefield residence."
"Is that you Luce?" came a familiar voice down the phone.
"You know very well who it is! And why did you just leave?!" I said.
"Ah, this is miss White isn't it?" Oh fuck, Mr. Boefield sounds just like his son.
"I, er, sorry, I thought you were someone else," I said, stating the blindingly obvious. "Can I help?"
"Don't worry, I'll call Finley's mobile. And I'll have words with him for you about leaving you." He hung up then without saying goodbye. How rude. Like father, like son I suppose and I doubt he will have many 'words' with Finley. I'll enjoy doing that myself anyway.
My phone rang next, about six-ish while I was eating yet another teacake- they are so addictive! I thought it was my mum but it was an unknown number. "Hmm?" I asked.
"Fleur, it's Pad here," said yet another familiar voice.
"Oh joy of joys..." I said sarcastically going back to my teacake.
"So how are you?" he said. I raised my eyebrows, not that he could see. "I've got Finley here, by the way."
"Even better. Since you dying to know I'm fine," I lied. If Finley's there I don't want him to think I've missed him at all.
"Liar," I heard a voice in the background. I wander who that could be, not.
"Finley said that's good," Padre said.
"Of course he did," I replied dryly. "Is there anything else or do I have to continue to pretend I'm vaguely interested in this conversation?"
"Ha you're a funny one!" he said, unsure at whether I was joking. "Yeah, Finley wants to know if you want to come out with us to night to meet some mates. It's just a small pub in the village, though."
"Shut up, Pad! She's not coming," Finely objected in the background again.
"Yeah, he really wants you to come."
"Hold on a second." I took another teacake and took a bite out of it ignoring him saying, "Fleur, Fleur?" I'm going to get fat. "Here again, and firstly tell Finley that he's needs to come back now and not go out, and secondly, I'd love to but you're going so I'm going to pass." A bit harsh, I know, but he helped chuck me in the pool.
I hung up after that and got changed into my pj's and some really soft slipper socks. It's early but it's a Saturday so there's loads on the tele and it's not as if I've got anything else to do.
It got boring quickly, but I'd ran out of things to do so I started fluffing up the pillows on the sofas. That really was a mistake because once I start tidying I can't stop. So I went the massive utility room that also had tonne of cleaning stuff. The whole house is spotless already but I need something to keep me busy so I might as well do something productive.
I started at one end of the sitting room and it took twenty minutes to polish everything up to the other side of the room. The welsh dresser at the end took the longest because it had loads of little things on it. The bottom shelf was the last thing I needed to do and I was knelt down when I heard Finley say, "Nice ass."
He practically flung himself on top of the sofa and threw all the pillows on the floor. "What are you doing?!" I said standing up and putting the polish and duster on the side.
"What does it look like?" He was doing that thing again where he was speaking but just wouldn't look at me. I moved right in front of his view of the screen and put my hands on my hips.
"Well don't. I spent ages tidying in here." He continued to look pointedly away from me and pushed another couple of cushions on the floor. "Can you look at me?"
He did look at me then. His gaze going all over my legs and chest. "I've already said nice arse and you only get one complement a day." Stupid boy. "And stop telling me what to do. This is my house and it's my rules."
"Oh, yeah? So why did you come back if I can't have a say?" I said. "Ah, I know. It's because daddy told you to, wasn't it?" I can't believe that worked, he actually looks embarrassed.
"I didn't want to go out actually," he said defensively. "Why would I when I've got someone as lovely as you to come home to? Move out the way."
I felt like testing him, I need to see how far I can push him and now's as good a time as any. "And it I don't want to..."
Finley grabbed my legs and picked me up so quickly I didn't' have time to move. "This had best not be a repeat of yesterday."
"Well if you didn't learn from then what do you expect?" He ran up the stairs still holding me over his shoulders. He slowed down a bit when he got onto the landing but I was still bouncing against his warm back.
"I expected you to get over yourself and not to be so childish!" He didn't stop though. Instead he walked down the corridor that lead away from the pool. "Where are you going?"
"To the bedroom. I think you'll enjoy it." Finley dropped me onto the bed and stood above me. I could see his chest falling and rising rapidly from carrying me so far.
"How much have you had to drink?" I said, trying to sit up. He put his hands on either side of me and put his face even closer to mine. "Get off me," I said, trying to roll away. He stopped me again but looked more serious now.
"Don't pretend you want me to," he said laughing. "And I just wanted to warn you that I haven't forgotten this morning; you'd better watch out."
