As soon as I wake up I see a plate of food on the end of my bed. Not as good food as the societies food, but what did I expect? The food I was given was fresh bread and poorly made scrambled eggs. I scarfed it down and when I finished I was yearning for more. Yes the food may have not have been award worthy but it was all I had and if you didn't notice, I was starving.
As soon as I finished Drew walked in looking disheveled and worried, but as soon as he sees me his face lights up.
"Oh my goodness, your awake!"
"Of course why wouldn't I be," I raise my eyebrows.
"Tamzine, you have been asleep almost all day, it's 4:00 pm," his worried face slowly fades into a grin," Were you dreaming about me."
"Ew, no," I frown," Really? that long."
"Yeah, but that means that you have to go to your interrogation right now," he looks disappointed.
"Okay, is something wrong."
Drew's face grows into a mischievous smile," Well we could always have a picnic afterwards."
"A picnic? What is that? Why?"
"Yesterday you said I could tell you more about the rebellion and all that, but since you were so caught up on dreaming of me, we lost time, so we'll have to just have a picnic, and I can not believe you don't know what a picnic is. You just have to find out. I'll take you an hour after your interrogation."
All I can do is stand there and look confused, surprised, and scared all at the same time as he holds out his arm.
"Come along Tamzi, it's time for us to finally interrogate you." Drew says with the widest smile on his face."
The word Tamzi brings memories back to when I was only six years old. I was with Jane on our monthly meeting, that's the day she started taking a liking to calling me that. She doesn't call me it anymore. Although, the thought of Jane brings back pure anger and sadness to my eyes as they're getting all watery.
"Don't call me that!" I cry," Don't ever call me that!"
"I'm sorr-"
"Just don't okay," I say interrupting Drew as the smile leaves his face, I soon regret it," I'm sorry Drew, it just brings back hard memories to even think of."
"It's fine," he replies, offering a small smile," I get it." he hold out his arm once more
"What do I do?" I ask confused.
Drew laughs, amused," You take it with your other arm and we walk together."
"Oh, okay," I say as I feel my face heat up.
I grab his arm as he said and we walk down the cave wall and up rock stairs to a clearing to where I see the most amazing thing ever. I am surround by huge, tall boulders that tower over everyone. The walls surrounding us have thousands of homes built inside. So this is how the rebellion lives. As I walk through the clearing I see three old people sitting in a trio on chairs. There is a single chair in front of them I walk up to it, but do not sit.
The first sitting in the three chairs is a slim woman with short grey hair and cloudy grey eyes, in front of me she speaks," Please Tamzine, sit."
I reply by doing as she commands.
" We are the Elders, my name is Jenna," says the woman with the cloudy grey eyes.
"My name is Maximus," says the Elder in the second chair. He has short grey hair and blue misty eyes.
"And my name is James," says the last Elder who seems in his mid 40's, much younger than all the other Elders. He has sandy blonde hair and brown eyes.
