Agravaine opened the door right when Arthur was about to eat his first bite of breakfast. "Uncle"? Arthur said and took down the food he was about to eat.
Agravaine took a quick look on the disappointed manservant and then turned to the Arthur. "I now know who the traitor is" Agravaine said. Arthur quickly stood up. "Go on" he said.
"It pains me to say it my lord. But it is your manservant, Merlin" Agravaine said.
Two guards came in through the door and took a firm hold on Merlin.
Merlin tried to fight. This couldn't be happening. He had been so close. Arthur froze for a moment, but then he laughed. "Merlin can't be the traitor. He can't even keep himself standing most of the times" he said. Merlin just wanted to go over and kick his royal ass. "I'm sorry Sir, but I have seen Morgana and Merlin talk together in the forest and if you make Gaius check I'm sure that the food you were about to eat is poisoned" Agravaine said.
The smile on Arthurs lips disappeared and he turned to Merlin. Merlin could see the confusion and hurt in Arthurs eyes. "And there is more Sire" Agravaine said.
Arthur slowly turned his head back to his uncle. "Merlin is a sorcerer" he said.
Arthur shook his head. "No that can't be" he said.
Agravaine sighed. "I'm sorry".
Arthur turned to Merlin. "What do you have to say"? He said calm.
Tears of anger pricked in Merlins eyes. He bit his lips not to laugh. How could Arthur be so stupid? "I would never betray you" he lied.
Arthur looked him in the eyes. Merlin didn't look away. "We can get Gaius and make him check the food" Agravaine suggested.
Merlin looked down. It was over. He couldn't get out of this. Agravaine went over to the door and opened it. "Fetch Gaius" he shouted.
Arthur just stood and looked at his young manservant. The boy he had seen as his friend. His best friend. "What's happening"? Gwen asked when she came in with her breakfast in her hands.
She looked confused on Merlin who was held by the guards. Arthur didn't answer.
Not long after Gaius came in and looked just as confused as Gwen did. "Check the food" Agravaine said. Gaius slowly went over to look at the food. He kept sending Merlin glances. He took his nose down to the meat and smelled then his eyes went wide open. Merlin clenched his jaw. Why was the whole freaking world working against him. "Akonit" Gaius said and looked at the King. "Who served you that"? He asked. Arthur didn't answer. He looked at the food like he hoped it would disappear if he looked at it long enough. "I'm sorry Gaius, but your ward is the traitor" Agravaine said. Gaius looked over at Merlin. He was completely pale. "That can't be right" he said.
Merlin was so angry that he almost couldn't be in himself. His hands shook and he saw red. Arthur looked over at him and the rage raised. He could feel his cheeks turn red. "Merlin"? Arthur asked.
"Arthur" Merlin answered threw clenched teeth.
Arthur looked at him with eyes Merlin couldn't read. "Leave us" Arthur ordered.
He didn't move his eyes from Merlin one second while the people left the room. Gaius and Gwen both send the two young men a worried glance before they left. Merlin had a hard time not jumping at Arthur now when the guards didn't held him anymore. "You too uncle" Arthur said.
Agravaine who had been standing with a little smile behind Arthurs back, made a little nod and left. "Is this true"? Arthur asked silent.
Merlin couldn't hold the mask anymore. He needed to get it out. He nodded. Arthur turned and kicked the chair behind him before he turned to Merlin again. "Why"? He asked.
Merlin smirked. Finally Arthur would understand how much of an idiot he were. "Because I hate you" he whispered with a dark voice.
