The young eight year old elf, Masis, woke up in a strange bedroom. She was laying in a large bed, that had a plain brown blanket thrown over it with a beautifully carved backboard. The room had two swords hung up on the wall and had a suit of elven armor in one of the corners. There was a desk near the end of the bed which was covered in old scrolls. She looked down at her left leg, which was completely numb, it had been cleaned up and bandaged. She suddenly heard a calm male voice outside the door. The door opened reveling two people, a man and a woman. Masis recognised the man as the one who had been at the lake, he was her mother's friend. "Good morning, Masis." The man said with a smile. "Good morning, sir. Where am I and who are I?" Masis replied. "My name is Lakisi Kerik, this is my wife Lucika." He said pointing to the woman next to him," You are at our house. As you may know I was a friend of your mother, she has requested that you stay with us." Tears fell down the young girl's cheek at the mention of her mother. " I'm sorry about your lose, dear. Don't worry you'll be safe here, we'll take good care of you." Lucika said reinsuringly while pulling Masis into a tight hug." We'll go get you some breakfast." Lakisi said while leaving with his wife. Masis attempted to get up but she immideately fell to the floor , she cried out in pain as she landed on her leg. After a few seconds Lakisi ran in quickly to help her up into bed. "Don't attempt to walk you'll only hurt your leg more." He told her while putting the blanket back over her. His wife came in soon after with a plate that had bread, apples, and ham along with a gaunlet full of water. She eat every bite ,she had barely eaten anything the day before, when her home had been raided. She slept for a majority of the day, Lakisi and Lucika came in every hour to check on her.
The couple watched as the young girl fell asleep." The poor girl, she must miss her mother. Luci, do you think we'll be able to keep her safe?" Lakisi questioned his wife." Yes, we have to, we promised Lace." She replied. She smiled at her husband and gave him a quick kiss before leaving him alone with the sleeping child. Maisis slowly sat up and looked at the man in her doorway. "How are you feeling?" He asked. "Better, do know if the raiders are still at my home?" She asked him with a sad look. He shook his head and moved to sit next to her. " Masis, I'm truly sorry about your mother. She should be here right now. I never knew she wasn't going to come with you. I promise you will be safe with us." He said sincerely to the young girl. She simply stared at the wall blankly. "I miss my parents." She muttered under her breath . Suddenly Lakisi pulled her into a hug, both of them cried.
