A Missed Shot

Y/N's POV

The bullhead had taken off, and we were heading toward Vale, where the presumed covenant was. But my head was still trying to take in what Weiss had done. She... kissed me. I kept asking the same question over and over again. "Why?" But suddenly, Lucy began to speak.

Lucy: Is seems we found Y/N's weakness. He's weak to kisses.

Alex: I don't think I have ever seen him so... absorbed in thought.

Lucy: I think he's thinking about Weiss.

Y/N: Shut up, we're here.

I stood up, and opened the hatch, and my eyes widened to the sight of forty or more Elites, terrorizing the citizens of the city. We all jumped to the ground, in front of the horde of Elites. Their eyes turned to us, and when they noticed what we were, they all growled.

Elite: Kill the demons!

Lucy: Plan?

Y/N: Kill every last one of them...

The two nodded, and equipped their weapons for the oncoming fight. Five Elite soldiers stepped forward, and readied their swords. I charged after them, jumping on to the first ones' back, and using his energy sword to kill the second one behind him. I then grabbed my pistol, and fired several bullets into the back of the first ones' head. The two fell to the ground, and as I turned to face the other three, I saw that they were dead, with Lucy standing on top of them. As I was about to speak, the blade of an energy sword sliced right passed my face, and I able to dodge the attack. I narrowed my eyes, and sprinted into the Elite, knocking him to the ground, and letting me use my combat knife to slit his throat. Three more Elites stepped in, and I quickly kicked the one in the face, while Lucy snapped the second ones' neck, and as she did so, Alex decapitated the third one with an energy sword he had picked up. We all jumped back, and looked at the other remaining Elites.

Y/N: Well, I think this is the part when we all started shooting...

Soon, every single Elite got behind cover, and started raining plasma bullets at us. We quickly jumped behind cover as well, and started picking off the Elites one by one. But that's when I saw a few stealth Elites behind us, and I instantly shot them with my DMR.

Lucy: We're pinned! What do we do?!

Y/N: Just keep firing!

??? : So this is what they fought. Alright men! Fire!

I turned around to see Ironwood, and his troops run up to the fight. I was surprised that their weapons were actually killing them. I smirked, and opened fire along with them. But suddenly, I could hear something from above, and I noticed Ironwood did the same.

Ironwood: That hell is that...?

Y/N: Is that a...?

Lucy: Oh no...

Everyone dashed behind anything they could find as a UNSC pelican crashed into the middle of the street, crushing some of the Elites that were still on the road. As the dust cleared, I could see the hatch to the pelican opening, and my eyes widened to see the ice colored haired girl slowly walking out of it.

Ironwood: Miss. Schnee?! What is she doing here?!

Y/N: Weiss!

Weiss: Y/N!

Everything began to move in slow motion. Nothing was the same. I sprinted toward Weiss, but it felt like I was walking at a slow pace. The determination in my eyes was flaring behind my helmet, and started shooting down any Elite I saw that moved with my pistol. As I ran, I shoved one of the alien bastards out of the way, not worrying about killing him, and I could sense that I was getting near to Weiss, but when in reality, I was meters away, too many. I didn't have enough time, and worry started to engulf me. My mind didn't want a civilian to die. No, my mind didn't want Weiss to die. She was kind to me for the most part, and I didn't want that to be taken away.

I started to scan the area behind Weiss, since most of the Elites were there, and that's when I saw him. It was a cloaked Elite. I could see the glare coming off of his black armor, and blue glow of his plasma rifle. I had one chance to shoot him, but I missed. I missed the damn shot. And that's when everything stopped. Everything had been frozen in time. Because of my mistake, I had threatened Weiss's life. But, something was off, he didn't raise his plasma rifle to shoot. He only followed her. I then realized what he was going to do, but as I was going to warn her, I was knocked to the ground by two Elite Zealots, and they held me down. But they were instantly shot dead by Ironwood. I jumped to my feet, and my eyes widened by the sight I saw. Not only the Elite had grabbed her, but there was also a covenant Phantom hanging above them, and they two started to lift off the ground by the gravity lift.

Y/N: NO!

Weiss: Y/N! Help-

But before she could finish her sentence, the airship ascended, and flew away into the mountains. I screamed in anger, and punched the nearest Elite I could find, since most of them were dead.

Y/N: God damn it! This is all my fault!

Lucy: Y/N, you couldn't stop what happened.

Y/N: I missed the shot... I had the Elite in my sights, and I... missed.

Atlas soldier: Sir! We got a live one over here!

Before I could say anymore, that one thing peeked my interest. I walked over to the Atlas soldier with Ironwood, and I when I looked at the Elite, I could tell he was alive. He was just unconscious.

Ironwood: Just kill it, we can't have anymore of-

Y/N: Wait...

Ironwood: You have an idea?

Y/N: Yeah... I have an idea. Bring him to your ship... and I'll take from there...

Ironwood: You know more about these things then I do, so I'll take your word for it. You heard him men! Bring the thing to my ship!

The group of soldiers walked away with the Elite, and all I did was stand there, thinking on how in god's name I was going to explain to Ozpin, and the rest of team RWBY about Weiss. It was all lying on my shoulders.

Lucy: What are you going to do?

Alex: Take Weiss back?

Y/N: In time... yes. But what I need to do now is become stronger, and when I'm done with that, then I'll save Weiss.

Nina: Y-Y/N! A-Are y-ou there?!

Y/N: Nina? Where are you?

Nina: L-Look down...!

I looked down at the hard and rough ground, searching for Nina's voice. Then I saw a small glowing red light beneath some rocks, and I was able to retrieve Nina's chip. I placed it in my helmet, and I could hear Nina's voice once again.

Nina: Y/N, thank god you're alright...

Y/N: Nina, what happened to you?

Nina: Weiss was trying to get me back to you since most of my repairs had been complete, and so I could help you on the battle field. But... it seems we failed...

Y/N: No. Not yet. I'll kill as many covenant troops as it takes to get Weiss back.

Alex: Would you...?

Y/N: Yes. Now come on. I need to have a little chat with our little Elite friend...
