Chapter 6-
Kellin's POV:
It had been four days since the incident with Jenna and Jack, and Vic and I were walking along happily. We were being a casual type of couple while still trying to survive in this world. It was strange but I liked it. It was night time and I was pretty sure we were in West Virginia. Vic had built a fire and we were sitting there together. His arm was around me. I was snuggled into his neck looking at the fire.
"Vic?" I asked.
"Kellin." he said.
"Sometimes I think about life, and think....this is it. There's no more." I said.
"Does the heat of the fire make you get all dramatic?" he asked. I laughed and he kissed my forehead.
"I guess so." I said.
"It's okay, I think about that too." he said.
"It's kind of sad." I said.
"It is, but it's better when you're here." he said. I smiled and kissed him.
"Out of all of this, the only good part was meeting you." I said.
"You too." he said.
"It's hard to look back on how it all started." I said.
"I know, there were a lot of difficult times." he said.
"Well, I watched my best friend get eaten by a zombie while he screamed, run Kellin!" I said, remembering Justin. I missed him so much. I fought back tears as I listened to Vic speak.
"I um, I had to kill my brother." he said. I looked at him in shock.
"What?" I asked.
"He was gonna turn into a zombie, so I shot him, so he wouldn't have to face the torture of being one of them. The last thing he said to me was, Vic, you're the strongest person I've ever met, I love you." he said. I saw a tear roll down his cheek and a wiped it away. I kissed his cheek.
"I'm so sorry." I said. He sniffled a little and he wiped another tear away. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly. I kissed his forehead and rocked him back and forth. I never thought I would see him cry. He seemed so tough.
"It's....It's okay. He was.....he was my best friend, you know?" he said.
"Yeah." I said.
"I was not the most popular kid in school, even in college, and he was there for me. He would always fight people for me and protect me, even though he was two years younger. It's hard to kill someone who meant that much to me." he said. At this point, I was tearing up too. I hugged him tighter, and kissed his cheek. He put his head down and looked away because he didn't want me to see him crying. I put my hand on his cheek and turned his head towards me. I kissed him softly and he kissed me back.
"I'm sorry that you had to go through that." I said.
"It's okay." he said.
"I wish that Justin was here." I whispered, admitting it to myself.
"Justin?" he asked.
"My best friend." I said.
"Oh, I'm sorry." he said.
"It's okay. I just don't understand how this happened. How could the world come to this? And why are we the ones that have to suffer through this hell?" I asked.
"When I'm with you, I forget that it's suffering. And I forget that it's hell." he said. I smiled and kissed him. He deepened the kiss, putting his hands on my cheeks. I chuckled a little as he pushed me down on to the ground. He laid on top of me and he deepened the kiss.
"I wish I had met you eleven years ago." I said.
"I know, but if I had met you before it started, you probably would've seemed like a douche to me." he said. I laughed and kissed him again.
"Well, I would've thought you were a dick." I said.
"Yeah, but you would've liked it." he said.
"What makes you think that?" I asked.
"You seem like the kind of guy who likes assholes." he said.
"I probably am." I said.
"You are." he said. He laughed a little and then connected our lips again. He grinded against me and I moaned softly.
"Do that again." I murmured against his lips. He rocked the lower half of his body against mine and I moaned once more.
Just then, breaking our romantic moment, a group of zombies started limping towards us. There were about four or five. We quickly got up and Vic charged at one. He stabbed it with a knife as blood spewed out of it's head. One limped towards me and I pushed it into the fire. It fell into the fire, and went into flames. The challenging part was that it got up and continued to limp towards me, still on fire.
"Shit!" I screamed.
"Head for the woods! The rest of them are dead!" Vic yelled.
"The woods?!" I yelled.
"Yeah, just go." Vic yelled. We ran towards the woods and the zombie followed us. It's skin was bubbling and boiling and turning black. Blood was spewing all over as it walked towards us. I ran into the woods and backed up into a tree. Vic grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side. I looked over and saw trees going up in flames and the zombie was burnt completely but the forest was now engulfing into flames. I got up with Vic and ran out. We turned back around when we reached our little campsite on the highway and we looked at the woods. The entire thing was up in flames.
"Oh shit." Vic said.
"Yeah." I said.
"Well, lets go." he said casually. He turned around and grabbed his bag.
"Go? We just burnt a forest down." I said.
"Yeah, but it's not like anyone in this world actually cares. So, come on." he said.
"Um, okay." I finally said. We walked along until Vic stopped me.
"Look." he said.
"What?" I asked.
"A trailer." he said.
"So?" I asked.
"So, we're not getting any younger. Why don't we go have some fun." he said. I looked at him.
"Fun?" I asked.
"Yep, all kinds of fun." he said. He turned towards the trailer and began to walk over to it. I ran after him, excited for what was about to happen.
A/N: Sorry, this chapter was pretty short....but don't worry there's a good one coming up;)
