Alexander looked over at Dahlia, curled up asleep in the passenger seat. No words had been exchanged since they had left, Dahlia just slept. Alexander had been tempted to wake her, but had been putting it off, until he saw a McDonald's. He looked over at Dahlia's thin figure and pulled into the fast food parking lot, gently tapping her leg. She sat with a start, but relaxed upon seeing that it was just Alexander.
"I'm going to get us some Mcy D's, then I think we should park somewhere so we can eat and talk, what do you want?" he asked gently, she looked up at him sleepily
"I've never had McDonalds, can I just have a kids meal?" she asked, yawning cutely. Alexander grinned, kissing her forehead
"I'll be right back princess, I'll pick something good for you" he murmured, she nodded, already dozing off again against the door. He slid out of the car, grabbing the keys and locking her in so no one would take advantage of his sleeping Peach, she'd had enough for one day. He quickly walked inside and ordered them a large bag of food to share, as well as some sweets and a kids meal for Dahlia. He paid and rushed back to the car, relaxing when he saw she was still there sleeping peacefully. He unlocked the car and got into the drivers side, pulling out of the driveway and heading over to the nearest motel.
"Dahlia baby, you gotta wake up so you can get to the motel room so we can eat" Alexander chuckled when she grumpily poked her head out of blanket. She grumbled something unintelligible and got out of the car. Alexander smiled, grabbing her bag and the food and walking in to the front desk with her. The receptionist smiled at them and gave them a key and they walked through the hall and walked into the motel room , which only had one bed. Alexander sighed irritably
"Would you like me to get us a room with two beds" he asked, turning, but she had already flopped onto the single mattress
"Foooood" she grumbled, curling up, obviously not caring about the lack of a second bed. He smiled, and sat next to her.
"Alright, wake up a little bit, I'm gonna bring you stuff up, be awake enough to eat when I get back, ok Princess?" He asked, she looked up at him and nodded, obviously deep into her little space to cope with the events of the day. Basil sighed, slipping out the door to get her things quickly. He walked out into the drizzling rain and grabbed the small bag of Dahlia's things sighing, he walked back up and opened the door, to only be smacked into by a running Dahlia, she was suddenly clinging to him and hugging him tight. Basil gasped, dropping the things and walking into the room, lifting her and hugging her closer to him
"I can't believe it's you" she whispered, obviously just now having the past day come crashing down on her. Basil sat on he edge of the bed, holding her tightly to his chest, nuzzling his face into the crook of her neck
"It's me, I'm here, and we can go be safe now, you're safe now, because I've got you" Basil whispered, she nodded against his chest.
"Come on, let's eat and just, talk, about ourselves so we can know each other...I feel like I've known you forever, but, I just want to relax for a while" Basil murmured. Dahlia nodded, slipping off of him. Basil grabbed the massive amount of McDonald's a putting a big pillow between them on the floor and sitting down. Dahlia sat down across from him and they quietly began eating. Basil watched Dahlia and smiled, she just looked happy to be eating.
"So we have an apartment waiting for us in Seattle, I have a job waiting, I can work from home. You can do whatever you want there" Basil murmured. Dahlia's eyes widened and brimmed with happy tears.
"Really?" She whispered. Basil nodded, smiling.
"I got accepted to a writing company, I just have to edit for them from the apartment they have in there complex, and I get paid for my work as well. The pay is amazing and the apartment is huge." Basil chuckled at her excitement. He scooped up the garbage from there eating and looked over at Dahlia.
