"Ugh! I give up! Science hates me!" Megan said leaning back on her chair. I grinned.
"It's not that hard. You just need to stop thinking you can't do it." I laughed.
"You should tell yourself that with math." Felix chuckled.
"Ha ha. Very funny." I said, glancing at him.
"What, it's not that hard." He mocked. Mac came back with three books in hand.
"Mac, do you like to read?" I asked. He smiled.
"Yeah, I do, and you?" He asked.
"I treasure it." I said, smiling. " What genre do you like?" I asked.
"Mystery. It's really cool to see how clever people are." He said. "What's your favorite genre?" He asked, me tilting his head ever so slightly.
"Romance." I said.
"Woah, was not expecting that." Felix said. I glared at him.
"And what's your favorite genre?" I asked. "You probably don't have one, because I bet you hardly ever read." I said, smirking. He squinted his eyes at me.
"Actually I love reading. I usually read non-fiction." He told me. My eyebrows shot up.
"That's more unexpected than me loving romance." I said.
"He did used to read a lot of non-fiction books, back in middle school." Mac said. "Of course I don't know anymore." He said, glancing at Felix. Felix shrank back in his chair. I wondered what the relationship between these two was. I had no idea that I would know in about a half hour, when I asked myself that question.
"Well. I'm finished with my homework." I said.
"Lucky. I still have this stupid science homework." Megan complained.
"I'm telling you it's not that hard!" I said.
"What is it?" Mac asked, leaning over to look at her paper. "This? This is easy."
"See, I'm not the only one who thinks that!" I said, looking over at Felix. He shrugged.
"I never said it was hard. It's pretty easy." Felix said.
"Here, let me help." Said Mac. He started to explain.
A couple minutes later, Megan said, "Oh! That's how you do it! Marine! Why didn't you explain it like that?" I shrugged.
"because I never thought of it that way." I smiled. In about 15 minutes, she had her science paper finished.
"Do you guys wanna go somewhere else?" Megan asked.
"I think I'm good." Felix said, quickly. He grabbed his bag, and started to walk to the exit.
"Wait, Felix." I said, walking to him. "Don't you want a ride?" I asked. He paused.
"Right! That's slightly important." He said, and forced a smile. The four of us walked to my car and climbed in. I put my keys in, and turned and... It didn't start. I tried again. Nothing.
"What the..." I kept trying. "Shoot, the battery's dead." I said, Megan looked at me.
"Now what?" She asked.
"I'm gonna call Jared, and we'll just have to wait outside." I said, opening my door. Everyone got out. I called Jared. I started back toward the group. Megan and Mac were talking, but Felix was silent. "Hey, so Jared said he would be here in about 45 minutes, so we have to wait here." I said.
