"Angel.... Angel...." I sang, walking to our room.

"Angel...." He sang slower.

I smiled. "Where in the world have you been hiding?

I have news that's perfect.

In the main room of the opera,

There's a masquerade."

He smiled. "And you want to go to the masquerade, don't you?" He said, smiling.

"Of course. Would you go with me?" I asked.

He touched my face and nodded. "Anything for you." He sang.

"Maquerade!

Paper faces on parade

Masquerade!

Hide your face so the world will never find you

Masquerade!

Every face a different shade

Masquerade!

Look around, there's another mask behind you."

The crowd sang loudly as we danced behind them. Erik and I danced through the crowd. He allowed me this much. To have fun before he made the Masquerade Ball a Hell. He made it a Heaven for me first, making sure I had the best night before it was messed up by his hatred.

"Flash of mauve

Splash of puce

Fool and king

Ghoul and goose

Green and black

Queen and priest

Trace of rouge

Face of beast

Faces!

Take your turn, take a ride

On the merry-go-round

in an inhuman race

Eye of gold

Thigh of blue

True is false

Who is who?

Curl of lip

Swirl of gown

Ace of hearts

Face of clown

Faces! Drink it in, drink it up

Till you've drowned

In the light

In the sound

But who can name the face?"

I spied Christine and Raoul, and immediately felt it was time to end it.

The crowd sang a few more times before I nodded and went to hide in the shadows as Erik walked into the masquerade.

"Why so silent, good monsieurs?

Did you think that I had left you for good?

Have you missed me, good monsieurs?

I have written you an opera.

Here, I bring the finish score.

Hannibal!
