the day i first met you,
i fell for you.
hard.
when our first words were exchanged,
i was free-falling from the clouds.
the world around me was a blur,
all i could focus on was
you.
when you smiled at me,
i did a trust fall off the empire state building,
smiling as i did so
(oh, was your smile contagious),
with enough hope
that you'd catch me.
when your beautiful laugh filled the air,
i was a plane nosediving towards the earth.
falling for you
faster than i have ever before.
the day i first met you,
i fell for you.
hard.
so hard that when i hit the ground,
the impact was able to break
the thick barriers
i've built around myself for years that
not even i could break out of.
you may not know,
and may never know,
but everything has changed since
the day i first met you.
