you haven't told your parents.
because if the word"gay"
is uttered just once,
even in the softest whisper,
their faces would twist with fury
that would erupt harsh words,
hurled at you as screams,
threatening to disown you
and throw you out of their lives.but i can tell
that you no longer
want to hide part of who you are,
and this secret no longer
wants to be kept.
the words almost slip out,
but you're afraid
of what'll be in store for you,
afraid that they won't back off from their threats.
you're afraid,
and that's why you still
hold it in.i want to help you.
so badly.
but
i haven't told anyone either.
not even
you.
a secret i've sealed inside since
the day i first met you.
i've locked myself in the closet
and don't know how to get back
out.
