Louis POV

"Who was the famous playwright who originally only cast men for roles?"

"Shakespeare," I answered without skipping a beat, tapping the plastic seat cover with my fingers. It was after school and we were on our way to a neighboring school for an Academic Club match. Me, Niall, and Jake, a lad from the team, had snagged the back two seats of the bus, and we were asking each other practice questions. Well, I was the one answering; Niall just kind of sat there playing with the hem of the AC t-shirt we let him borrow for the night. And I definitely wasn't distracted by the way the electric blue t-shirt brought out his eyes. Nope.

"Square root of 16?" Jake smirked. You could say we were running out of questions.

"FOUR! First question I got right, weyhey!" Niall shouted out, his little bum almost coming off the seat with pure excitement. The entire bus turned towards the back of the bus in amusement.

"You're such a weirdo Niall," I teased, balling up my navy hoodie to use as a pillow. An extremely cute weirdo.

'Which US president owned a hat and glove shop that went bankrupt before his presidency?" Ohhh, presidents. My favorite. I scanned the blank faces of the opposing team, and it appeared that nobody cared enough to answer or was even awake to hear the question.

My shrugged and pressed a thumb down on the buzzer. "The answer is Harry S Truman."

"Correct! Next question: if a cd costs $5 minus a 10% discount and a dvd costs..."

I felt a foot nudge against mine underneath the table as I listened to the question being asked. Niall was sitting across from me, pointedly staring at the table in front of him. What a nut. I ignored him, and tried to finish the equation when I felt the foot again. When the presenter wasn't looking, I nudged his foot back, and shrugged my shoulders in a 'what gives?' gesture when he finally looked back up at me. But he didn't say anything, he just slid a little piece of paper across the table to me. I looked at it skeptically, knowing it was against the rules to pass notes during a match. But Mr. Blue Eyes urged me to open it.

Niall: It's sexy how you know the answer to every single question

My face turned 30 different shades of red as I read the note. This was not happening.

Nope.

Niall was staring straight ahead, like he didn't even think twice about what he had said. Like he meant it.

I mustered up all my courage and wrote back:

Well, someone's got to pull the weight of the team.

I passed it back and peered at Niall with one eye. He bit his lip as his blue eyes scanned my response slowly, and I was certain that he was internally cringing at my failed attempt at conversation. After what felt like a year, the note was in front of me again.

Niall: good, I like the assertive type ;)

I gasped, earning a glare from the table of whiz kids I was surrounded by. But I couldn't care less. Was he finally bringing up the kiss? Did he like it?

"Everything alright, Mr. Tomlinson?" The presenter peered at me behind thick glasses.

"Uh, yes sir," I nodded, sinking down in my seat.

After the match finally ended, we quickly boarded the bus as rain drenched our backs. Jake went home with his mum, so it was just Niall and I sitting in the backseat together. The ride home is pretty quiet, and neither of us bring up the note-passing from earlier. It turns out that ignorance is a recurring pattern between us.

"Great job, earlier, Tommo. You really are the man." Niall said once the lights went out. Raindrops from the window reflected onto his muddy blue eyes.

"Ahh, thanks," I replied, trying to get comfortable against the stiff plastic seats of the bus. The hoodie thing from earlier isn't working anymore.

"You alright?" Niall asked, watching me as I readjusted my arm against the window for the 80th time.

"Ehm, yeah, I'm just a little sore from lacrosse is all." I admitted.

"Where at? I'll fix it," Niall replied, scooting so close that I could exhale comfortably.

"My shoulder, and back area. It's fine, really," I insisted. Anything to get him to stop looking at me like that.

"No, my dad is a chiropractor. We've just gotta let the muscle relax a bit." And then his hands were on my back, rubbing small, gentle circles into my shoulder blades.

I flinched at the unexpected touch. "Shhhhh. Just lean back, relaaaxx," Niall whispered.

I felt myself lean against the seat like he asked, melting into his touch, his magic hands. Then he moved a bit lower and started to rub the sides of my waist, which was totally unnecessary and I might throw up if we're being totally honest.

He pushed his fingertips into my upper arms and curled his thumbs around my armpit area and I yelped a bit.

"It's okay, I'm gonna take care of you, Louis. Just close your eyes and relax."

I only nodded and tried not to think dirty thoughts as his large, calloused hands found their way to my hips and lower back. Niall rubbed circles into the skin there, his fingers creeping up under my t-shirt this time, and then halfway around my waist almost to my tummy, just rubbing back and forth, fingertips pressing gently into my skin a little farther around each time.

"Ahhhhhhh," I accidentally breathed out. At this point I was so pathetically turned on, my dick almost throbbing in my pants as Niall's hands continued to rub my sides and waist. My eyes were closed and I was about to fall asleep, but I knew we were almost to the school.

Thank God, I needed to get home and fix some things unless Niall was going to rub me somewhere else as well.

Then his hands were gone, and I felt a soft kiss being pressed into my shoulder.

"There," he whispered against my skin. "All better."
