Chapter 20: Awakening

"wake up."
[Ryu] "h-huh? Sol?"

It's been a while since I've been here. The black room, floor covered in a layer of water and Sol, standing a small distance in front of me. He looked different now though. He no longer had those red veins running down his face, his iris' were yellow but his hair remained the same pale white.

[Sol] "Hey there."
[Ryu] "What's going on?"
[Sol] "You got hurt pretty badly."
[Ryu] "Ah, right."
[Sol] "If you want to live, you'll have to stay here for a while so that your body can heal."
[Ryu] "I guess I did get stabbed again huh?"
[Sol] "You also stopped breathing but let's just sweep that under the rug for now."
[Ryu] "heh, y'know it's kind of funny."
[Sol] "Hm? What is?"
[Ryu] "both of us have changed so much since we came to beacon. To be honest, you remind me of myself a little from when we first got here."
[Sol] "Makes sense. When I gained full consciousness you were angry, sad, all the things I'm probably meant to be. I remember how you were before then, the happiness, love... and figured you needed more of that. And I ended up like this."
[Ryu] "Heh, thanks."
[Sol] "No problem. So, Here's the complicated part. With you in here, someone needs to take over out there..."
[Ryu] "Tell everyone I said hi."
[Sol] "H-huh?"
[Ryu] "I trust you."
[Sol] "I-I will. Thank you for trusting me. Any other messages?"

Closing my eyes, images of Ruby, in her normal gear, the clothes she wore when we went to hunters heaven together, her dance dress, it all brought a sad smile to my face when I realised I won't be able to see her for a while.

[Ryu] "tell Ruby..."

After Sol confirmed that he would share what I've asked him to, I felt my conscious fade once again. This time though, it felt warm, serene, kind.

[Dan] "hyaah!"

Dan delivered a massive downwards blow to an Ursa majors head, caving in the ground beneath it.

[Gwenn] "Behind you!"

Nul teleported above the flanking Beowulf, punching it in the head with incredible force before mirror athletically leapt atop Dans shoulders followed by an extra jump from the recently teleported and yet to land Nuls raised feet, giving Mirror the height he needed to flip through the air, transform the device on his arm into a shield and somehow gain a large amount of downward momentum, crashing down atop another Beowolf.

[Mirror] "hehe, that makes 12 for me!"

An arrow made of pure ice sliced through the air beside him, finding its mark in the eye socket of an attacking creep, freezing it before shattering into pieces. From her perch, Gwenn floated a mocking smile aimed at Mirror.

[Gwenn] "17."
[Dan] "haha! You guys sure are getting along well!"
[Gwenn & Mirror] "That's not-!"

Dan smiled as he swung his large war hammer around, connecting with another creep and killing it instantly.

[Dan] "that's 24 for me! What about you Nul!?"

Nul turned to face his teammates after dealing with a Death Stalker in no time at all, placing his hands in front of him and extending his fingers to inform his teammates of his score.

[Dan] "*impressed Whistle* 35 huh."
[Mirror] "That's not possible!?"

To Mirrors loud whining, Nul simply pumped out his arm and shaped a peace sign with his fingers.

[Gwenn] "*Sigh~* Nul's on another level. Just accept it."
[Mirror] "Eh? But-wha-I-okay.."
[Dan] "Hahaha!"

Just then, a loud boom resounded from further within the city, near an old church now being used as an orphanage.
